F80 has a big weight advantage. RWD to RWD what do you think?

I can't wait to check back on this forum when there are 900whp AWD G80's out there. The S58 is a highly tunable engine. GTRs need a full transmission upgrade when you reach certain levels and they're outdated. Also- plenty of ways to save weight on this platform- the weight numbers are w plenty of options

Ohh and by the way the GTR taps out around 600 tq with stock internals and transission so they cost a pretty penny to get past that point, but who says the M3 will handle 900whp on stock trans/engine? |

Maybe you should have kept your modded GTR at 600ft/lbs(dynojet) like recommended on stock motor/tranny....

At that point in my life, I was just trying to get every little bit out of it. Shit happens=) Better the tranny then windowing the block I guess. Maybe I should have towed it to the dealer and see if they would have covered it under warranty? That was sarcasm |

Honestly, I realized this car wasn't for me when I tried to justify it by "it's going to be so fast in a straight line" - I had an identity crisis for a second like when did I turn into a muscle car 1/4 mile fan boy? Then it hit me.
If you have to help justify the purchase despite all the drawback because of the 1/4 time, then I'd be mindful of the following. You can't replace "soul" in a car by just straight line speed -- in doing so, you'll be so consumed by raw HP and straight speed that you're constantly going to be essentially driving at a speed limit that is an automatic 1 year + license suspension + other legal ramifications. I'd prefer a car that just "feels" fun to drive - it's why so many people are still hooked on the s2k - and that's why I landed on my M2 CS.. I'd rather take that on the backroads being 500ish pounds lighter w/ 450 hp than any straight line 1/4 mile beast, but that's just my preference at this point in my life.

I completely agree. Power is nice. But it doesn't equate to fun driving for me. On a day to day basis I'm not hammering the car at every stop light. But I can feel the handling, steering, suspension, etc. all the time. I don't like a completely gutless car but it also doesn't need to be ridiculous the other way.

Take Golf. There's the driving range and there's the Golf Course. The driving range is fun and it's great for practice, but it's just one aspect of golf. But seriously I can appreciate the skill and passion put into drag racing. In the end, I'm for anything we do to enjoy these cars. I just don't want to assume that what I want out of a car is the same as everyone else and vice versa. If 1/4 miles are important to people, great, have fun. It's not important to me unless it does the dozens of other things I want a performance car to do. I don't need a one trick pony like a Dodge Demon. That's not in my wheelhouse.
