Good one. Enjoyed that. Wife has the X3MC so I'm glad it's quick but not as quick.

The M3C has a serious shot at the M5C with times like these.

Weight matters as we all know. Especially when we have to do with the same engine was a predictable result.
2 seconds quicker to 130mph makes a difference.

x3m felt slow to me when I test drove it. Especially from a roll. I was worried the M3 would be similar, but from the video appears to be significantly faster.

It's slower but by no means slow. I drive my wife's frequently. It's perfect for family of 4. Wife loves it so doesn't ask to drive my M3 which is perfect for me.

Its a fast SUV IMHO

The race was close enough that if a revised X3M Comp in the real world got the jump, it could take the M3 X up to very high speeds. It wasnt like it was bus lengths as things in the camera are farther than they appear.

When I first got mine I thought the same thing (original dealer "demo" that manager was driving), my first year service I mentioned something to them and not sure what they did but it had a lot more punch from the get go after that. Not sure if there was some cpu tune that BMW rolled out quietly but it wasn't just my imagination (forgot to ask about it before I left).

Also the extra torque the LCI got should help and looks like it did, 1/4 mile in 10.5-10.6 now, Car and Driver tested the original at 10.8

Phew, then I'd finally be able to settle my debt with Toretto.

It all depends on the revs and where you're sitting in them when you peg the throttle. 0-3k has great throttle tip in but ultimately is a dog, 3-4k is interesting, and 5-7k yowza!

They did a good job comparing these two in this video.

The M5 walks away from the M3... M3 in either rwd or awd without modding has zero chance of outrunning an M5c... it's (M5)trapping the quarter-miles at 129/130mph... m3 is 6mph at best slower, 0-150 the M5 is 3 seconds faster, 0-60 is anywhere from a second to half a second faster vs. the M3.

yes the awd has a faster 0-60, but the rwd pulls on it in the end as it has less weight and less loss thru the powertrain on the upper end.

You mean 11.6?

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/am...sting-0-to-60/

There's no chance the LCI is 10s. I think the F90 CS was 10.8 in some 1/4 mile tests. Were you thinking of that?

Both amazing machines!

The perfect duo- and the perfect his/ hers.

The wife's 2022 Brooklyn Grey and Sakhir Orange X3M Comp is in transit and my 2022 M3 xDrive Mexico Blue with black carbon buckets was in the paint booth as of today!

Can't wait for our M stable.

Joe Achilles makes better drag tests than carwow for sure.
M cars now really in supercar territories that's amazing.
Would like to see Joe does a M3 AWD vs 911 carrera S video.

That M3 is very very fast. The X3M is not as fast but offers a lot of performance for its size and ride comfort convenience

Awesome video accept for Joe saying "there's nothing in it..." close to 100 times. The driver in the X3 M was a bit chunky & they 3 mates in the M3 where a touch on the slim side. So I think a lighter driver in the X3 M plus one more large adult in the M3 would've made the races a little more interesting. Testing an X3 M with no pano roof would be superb...

Thought you got both in Brooklyn Grey before reading your post, haha. Great combo to have though.

We currently have a LBB M2C and my wife is in the X4M but unfortunately we both decided to part ways with the X4M once our order for the '22 X3M40 gets in. Had the X4MC for about a year, dealer offered us about only $4k less than what we paid for it, can't complain really. As a daily, the power was never utilized when my wife drove it so it just felt like a waste and all that money going to the terrible MPG with the current gas prices was brutal.

I will for sure miss it though, it is an absolute monster. Rides a little stiff for a daily though, but personally didn't mind it.

On a side note, these AWD M3s are absolutely insane. 3.1 seconds 0-60, low 11s 1/4 mile for a well specced one at $82k? Is there really a better option out there right now?

I can't believe people were actually saying "I'd never get an AWD M3, its not a true M car..."
