CT4V Blackwing Doug Review
Demuro's reviews are what they are, but he's the first reviewer I've seen to drive the manual CT4V BW who has also reviewed the 6MT M3.
I'm surprised that he makes a somewhat negative handling comment towards the Cadillac. Certainly different than the ATS-V vs F80 days. |

Doug doesn't track cars or drive them hard. He's basing his opinion of how it behaves on the street. The CT4-V certainly isn't as good an engine as the S58 but I have to imagine it's chassis is every bit as good as the G8x.

Yep, hopefully someone who tracks and has significant skills will actually do a real comparison. I'd love to see Throttle House get both of them on their track tests.

Savagegeese posted a review on the 4BW last week as well.
Having owned mine for a few months now I'm still very happy with the vehicle. Some things I believe most people would like better than the G82 would be the gauge cluster is much better in the 4BW. It offers better looking modes, it has more customization and it offers more viewable information overall. The manual feel is much better and the car has full camber adjustment front and rear out to -2.5deg. One big thing for me but may be different for others or even the opposite is that the seats in the 4BW are very comfortable while offering the same amount of bolstering. The G82 non-ventilated seat I sat in did in fact feel a bit better than the ventilated version in my 2020 X3M(like others on the forum thought). But they were still uncomfortable for me which I think is an issue between my back and how they're shaped. Things most people will more than likely say the G82 is better at is that the interior quality of the 4BW is that of a 35k car with no options to make it better. The rear seat room is very tight and only good for kids. My 5'6" wife's knees touch the seat if she sits behind me and I'm only 5'9". The G82 looked like it had at least 2" more knee room. The car looks better from the front but the side and rear isn't as good as the G82. Finally, the G82 leases much better if you don't want to finance. Things I think they're even on is brake feel is about the same in regards to daily driving. The steering feel is OK I guess but both suck compared to my 987.2. I think the mag ride suspension is better for a daily than the G82 but the roads were very smooth where the G82 was driven so no confirmation there. Ground clearance seemed very similar between the two vehicles and I haven't looked up actual numbers. Overall exhaust sound is obviously different but I'd say they're about equal on what you get. @strohw
Great to see an actual owner post, the CT4 Blackwing is a car that really got my attention lately. I was never satisfied with my M2's suspension and went through 3 revision of Ohlins to try to tame it down and at the end it was just OK. Now with my M340i I have the street qualities I was looking for but am missing the track performance of a true M car. The CT4 BW seems to position itself in a very interesting way, smaller that the G series M3, bigger than an M2, capable of being more civilized than both while being as good order even better on track. There are the interior culprits but the M2 was nothing to rave about. If you don't go too crazy with the carbon stuff it's price is also very good for what you get. I really like the seriousness GM puts into setting up there cars for the track, they just work, all the guys I see at the track with Camaro's and corvette Gran Sport are always having a lot of enjoying them, BMW guys are very often fiddling with camber setups, strange tire wear, overheating brakes etc. Don't get me wrong I love my BMW's and nothing comes close as practical daily trackable cars but this ct4 BW might be goldilocks "BMW" I have been looking for some time... The fact it is as fast or faster than a 2017 GTR at VIR is also mind blowing and speaks a lot to me.

Doug spends 3/4 of the time reviewing the infotainment on these cars. He's more of a tech guy than a car guy to me. Savagegeese is the opposite, I especially love how he gets under the car. More reviewers need to do that.

Agreed. To get a comprehensive preview of what you might get out of a car and the experience you'll have with it on a daily basis, watching multiple reviewers isn't a bad idea.
