Just spoke to the "Parts" department at the my dealership and they said that BMW would start shipping out the "parts" for this stop sale at the end of this month. In terms of when the dealership would receive it, he wasn't sure.

Not sure how accurate that is but just another data point for people waiting to take delivery to consider...

Likely highly inaccurate. Let's see.

Do you think that timeline is too optimistic?

Let's say they start shipping out at the end of the month. Almost no one is getting on the schedule for repairs till next year as scheduling happens after parts arrive at the dealership.

This is well and truly into 2022 at this point for all practical purposes.

The fix would have to be identified to start shipping parts right? Do they not keep the bulletins up to date?

You guys think it’s safe to say that if bmw hasn’t lifted the stop sale on the car by now, the car is truly affected? Or is bmw still narrowing down on the affected cars?

Today, I scheduled my G82 for break-in service for this coming weekend. I casually asked if my car was affected by the main bearing recall. She looked it up and said yes and that the parts are already on order. I'll find out more when I take it in this Saturday (11/13). This is after a short conversation so I don't have any details nor anything concrete beyond that.

If interested, I can compile the dates of my car's build progress but it's all in the week 34 thread. TL;DR: All of it falls within the date range.

As far as the car is concerned, I'm enjoying it a lot other than the excruciatingly difficult task of keeping the RPMs down to respect the break-in period. This monster just wants to go! Keeping it under 100 is equally difficult…

Did they say what “parts” they were ordering since we have no info a month later. Not sure how many people are in my boat but my car has been at the dealership a month to the day and 0 updates.

Trying to cancel that one and order another but the dealership is saying they need to see what the fix is first 🤦*♂️🤦*♂️

I'll find out what "parts" are on order this Saturday. She was very vague about it and said they will talk to me with more details later. Feels like how a hospital delivers bad news, like the G82 is getting a heart transplant.

Spoke to my SA today. Confirmed my car still shows affected. No remedy listed and is unaware of any "parts being sent" to the dealer.

Same. Just picked up car yesterday for break-in service. I'm affected but no "fix" yet. SA advised it will probably be awhile before viable fix in place. He did state stop sale vehicles awaiting delivery will get priority. He also recommended NOT being in a hurry if fix is determined to be tear-down vs engine swap. He also recommended just enjoying the car for now...which I am.

Garage List
Fix and procedure updated today. From the original list to today's update, Canada has only 11 units affected from the 50 or so on the original list.

Does not seem that the fix requires the engine to come out - just the top of the engine to access the upper bearing shells. Total estimated time is approx. 22 hours.

Just for those interested in manufacturing, depending on the crankcase classification, as little as 1 bearing may be affected or all 6 - that's how tight and close these parts can be traced for QC/QA.

Should ease a lot of concerns and the noise/over exaggeration with regards to the fix.

Can you post the updated tsb? Not sure how pulling the head off would give access to the main bearings

I just brought my X3M in that has the same bulletin and my VIN is still impacted and shows that no fix has been identified.

New to the forum, having the same issues everyone else is having. The CA I'm working with in Seattle confirmed for me yesterday there are no new TSB's, other than the one he provided on 10/25 which said the following "Many vehicles have been removed from the delivery stop and we recommend that you re-check your inventory. All systems are up to date. We still do not have an ETA on parts - please monitor the Parts Matrix for updates". The 2022 X3MC I have a deposit on, has been at the dealership for a month & had a production date of 9/7. The dealer did put in a back-up order in case this drags out, but that order wont be fulfilled until the dealer has an allocation spot open, which at the earliest is early December. I don't see this issue resolved this year. I hope I'm wrong.

BMW Genius who initially alerted me to the "main bearing shell" stop sale, which I had to confirm with my CA, has been radio silent for the past three weeks. They wont answer any questions on the topic and are now a complete waste of time to call in to if you all are looking for answers on this.

Ya genius has been completely useless. Dealers are the only ones with any info but even then there isn’t much at all. I’m trying to order another one cause mine has been at the dealership since the stop sale and now they are saying there is a production “stall” or hold. Any info on this? Seems like people are getting their cars still?
