Reworked engines will not go into new cars but will likely sit around for any warranty issues with other cars requiring a ‘new’ engine. If they do the recall in stages, the engines pulled from cars not delivered may go to the cars already delivered.

My car has a production date of 9/23, and I am still flagged with the recall.

For whatever it's worth my car is no longer flagged for the recall/enhancement. Confirmed with BMW Genius and SA at Center BMW in So. Calif. today. It was still showing as of yesterday. I was told as BMW narrows down the affected vehicles they are releasing Vins from the list daily. They could not confirm engine swaps but did state "parts are being dispatched to dealers" but no official bulletin on the repair. Thanks for all the information. This forum sure helps tame the craziness with all of the mixed messaging.

So I just called Genius and they confirmed there are no open recalls on my vehicle. Mine was impacted yesterday, so I'll take this as a sign of good news, but I'm still not confident.

I am bringing my car in for the 1200 mile break in tomorrow, so maybe I'll find out more then.

Welp, genius was wrong (shocker). Saw it on my SA’s screen this am. My car is still showing the recall/stop sale.

He stated they have no information on it other than what we already know. He didn’t want to speculate on a fix and said it’s still possible my VIN could fall off, but BMW hasn’t communicated much to them.

Figured it was too good to be true.

So, they let you drive off or no?

SA told me my car will be ready around lunchtime so I'm assuming that means I can take it home. When I asked him about the recall he started nodding before I even mentioned what I was referring to.

As others have stated, it doesn't appear BMW is requiring cars in customers' possession to be stolen away from them.

Seems like I'll be taking it home, but will report back later today.

Sorry to hear as my situation is similar to yours (Dropped off list yesterday). Taking my car in for break-in service early next week. Is your car still showing on UK site?

No; it does not show on the UK site. I don't believe any US cars show on it anymore.

Vic55 you did, but others were saying things were changing day to day, so I called genius the day after you told me. Doesn't matter since genius is inept as usual.

Much appreciated again!
