Individual color - standard delay or variable?
I'm currently #1 on my dealer's list awaiting an allocation.
My current build is Brooklyn Grey, but I'm seriously considering switching to Frozen Dark Gray - mainly because F80SRT's car just looks so good! I know there will be a longer wait for anything individual, but is this fixed amount of time...or does BMW try and group a batch of colors together to be painted...meaning the wait could be shorter? I'm hoping my allocation comes through this month which would mean an April build date. Adding individual will push that out a bit. I'm not sure if this would put it at risk of becoming a '23 MY (no idea if that's a good or bad thing).

I placed an order for an individual (Enzian blue) M3 Comp xDrive back on Oct 12, 2021. There were a few people ahead of me waiting for an allocation, but I received my allocation at the end of Nov for a week 2 build. I didn't get bumped at all, and my car finished production Jan 12, 2022. It got to the port in Bremerhaven a few days later, and shipped out on Jan 23. As of today it's at the port in Halifax waiting to be sent out to Vancouver by rail, and there are no recalls or stop sales.
All in all, I should be right at 5 months from order to delivery. From what I've seen this is a quicker timeline than most experience and I may have just lucked out with timing. I was prepared to wait longer as I had also heard it would delay production, but that has not been my experience so far. Even if it took a few extra months it's totally worth it to get the color you want, IMO! |

In the current market, everyone's progress is different and we cannot zero in an answer.
I have a BG on order and would have most likely taken the individual route for a lighter blue shade if everything was normal. My current build week is CW10 and i dont want to push it to a later date with current component shortage and iDrive 8 implementation with MY23. |

I'm in the same boat as you (but second in line for an allocation). Trying to decide between AW and FDG. Keep going back and forth. Interested to hear if those with Individual colors experienced any delays. Feel like others have said, it's likely extremely variable. We just have to decide if the color is worth the delay lol.

Thanks all!
Decided to switch over to FDG and just accept whatever the timeline is.

Not that you need a 4th option, but if I was doing a blue it would have to be Voodoo. https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1894898

Do it. I got a frozen dark grey that is sitting at the port now as well. It added an additional 7 weeks for me. Not the end of the world since it hit the winter months anyways.
I did seem to get batch with another FDG with og_e46. We were right next to each other during the process.

I figure, with the current market conditions, there's likely to be delays in multiple steps along the way, so I might as well order the color I want (Dravit Grey) after all is said and done. I'm sure it'll be worth it.

I'm also 111 on a Skyscraper. The Atlantis post had me consider changing too, but I'm sticking with my silver-grey ghost. I saw one in person and it ticks all the boxes for me, even thought that Atlantis is much more striking.

BSM waiting at port, @rockinpa just took delivery of his Mexico blue before me and pretty sure my order was in after mine - think it's luck of the draw

Marina bay is pure blue with extreme pigment. San Marino is just as high pigment, but adds a purple aspect that makes it a few shades darker in most lights. Both are hard to capture in photos as they each lose the pop that appears in person.
