Since this cars was unveiled (and even before) there are no shortage of photos of it I fail to see how relevant it would be to have even more... On the other hand it's rare to have feedback from someone driving those, so i'm more than happy to have OP's feedback on driving dynamics.

As others have said that figure is not the vehicle weight but the max possible gross weight. For US spec cars, BMWNA has to publish official US weights (incl. full fluids, all standard equipment for US and all options expected to be equipped on more than one-third of M3/M4 sold). Those values show for the DCT F80 vs ZF auto G80 that there is a 300lbs weight gain by the G80. 3540 lbs for the F80 versus 3840 lbs for the G80.

I believe it would either tint the lens of the headlight or add a darker backing plate inside the lens giving a darker look, similar to how the LCI 5 series headlights are darker than pre-LCI. But I wouLd need confirmation as well. From the configurator it looks no different

Can you confirm whether the G80 has The Magnet that Borat was looking for?

Hope the M2 starts coming in 4 doors for a lighter, smaller alternative akin to the E46 M4 four door of yore. |

Salesman: New car weighs 3,879 lbs, Sir. Customer: But, but, isn't that an increase of nearly 300 lbs? S: Uh, yes, however, that's just 12% more. C: 12%! Exactly! Too much. *slaps roof of car* What is this, an M5? S: Well, Sir, but the power is up by 21%! It all cancels out. C: Ehh, I don't think so. What else is new, then? S: It's got this M Drift Meter which rates your drifts; the maximum is five stars. Your 2016 doesn't even have CarPlay! Yesterday on a test drive, though, someone got 4.5 but he, sadly, sent it into a ditch...

I have zero doubt the G80 will be faster in a straight line than the F80...nobody questions that. The G80 market is targeted at the higher end lease "renter" since lease penetration is huge for BMW in cars over $60k especially in their main markets in this country some of which approach 90% of "sales". As an aside, BMWNA often screws up their spec pages for some reason. I had to contact them to correct the weights and weight distribution values on the M2 Competition page earlier this year; at least they responded and corrected their errors rather quickly. I mention this since the M3 vs M3 Competition spec pages show 3850 for the M3 and 3890 for the M3 Comp; both say "with automatic transmission"; however I doubt there is a 40lb increase between the two cars *unless* BMWNA spec page for the M3 really has the weight for the 6MT version of the car and is incorrectly labeled...time will tell.

Yes, figure right near 3900 with the automatic transmission. Later next year when the xDrive versions appear they will be in your higher range of weight.

I don’t think I will ever like the grilles, but would still buy the car. I think the G20 looks great, so the more traditional look is my preference. BUT..... I have not seen it in person. Thanks for sharing, good to hear people like it. |

Alfa weighs over 3800lbs, but some reviewers said it felt 2800lbs on a back road and was much more fun and agile than the F80. Engineering magic! TBD |
