It's no real surprise - years from now, those who bagged the M4CSL will still be eating their words and kicking themselves for not buying one

It's pretty nuts that he's gone through a set of tyres so quickly!

Doesn't surprise me with Cup2r (if that's what he has) I expect them to last 2 track days.

Did you saw the tires somewhere ? I'm curious how they wear, I expect the minus hubs that come from factory to give this car around -2, -2.5 witch isn't quite enough but I bet he wore the rear tires also with that 600hp.

It also depends a lot on the driving style, one can get away with -2 all day and another will need -3.5 to not scrap a set in half a day.

I would be surprised if the minus hubs give more/less than minus two. We will find out after the Sport Auto Supertest, since they quote relevant figures.

Most of the UK reviews seem focused on the looks, lack of a manual, and lack of a NA engine. Seems like these guys wanted to punish BMW M for not being Porsche. Could be advocacy to push BMW for a manual M2 CSL. Either way, seems little to do with how the car drives.

Agreed. Like the Top Gear review could've been written at home because it mostly had nothing to do with how the car drives.

IMHO anything written / said by Tom Ford might as well have been done at home. I've no idea how he became an auto journalist? Maybe it's his odd facial expressions? He came to "fame" on fifth gear but I quickly dismissed him as somebody who knows very little about assessing cars!

Not so with Tiff Needell though

Yeah - he's a racing driver - VBH is a very good driver too! But he was definitely the weak link.

If interested, go straight to 38:40 where they talk CSL. Among staff writers, Ollie Marriage is probably the driver that stands out.

Kind of in line with what I was saying, about needing Cup2 connects for street. Top gear is the only mag that drove it on Cup2 Rs while everyone else on PS4s had feedback about vagueness etc.

I think for the road, on regular Cup 2s, it's probably magic.

To say that the 2 most approachable track/road cars was the CSL and the GT4 RS, that's a huge compliment. Good luck getting a GT4 RS south of $250k, whereas you can (possibly) get an M4 CSL for MSRP.

Seems like they judged the car in looks and badge, but as a driving experience, seems like they liked it quite a lot especially on track.
