2024 C63

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
You all see the reveal? I do not understand the C63. Lose the V8 (sound), gain a lot of weight (looks like curb weight of about 4600 pounds), 3.3 seconds to 60 (MB also underrates a little so likely about the same as a G80 xdrive), and only 8 miles of electric only range.

Where is the benefit? What am I missing?

2.2 tons too much weight.

Seems like you'd lose 200 hp when the battery dies as well. So I wonder how many runs you'll get at 3.3 sec. I guess we'll have to wait for the tests. Sad to say this is probably the future.

That should save it quite significantly in the city mileage game probably upwards of 5 MPG. IF you can charge it back up while you drive. The Wife's V60 Polestar has 25 miles of range and we can tell the car to charge it while we drive (this is slow) But in a 50 miles drive you can go 25 miles on battery then 20 miles gas and you probably charged 5 miles in that time)

I have a G83, used to have a 392 Wrangler (guzzled gas like a m-fer), and we have an i4 M50 on order...so I can appreciate all sorts of drivetrains.

I can see the appeal if the C63 had more electric range. 200hp with the torque of an electric motor is good enough for short in-town errands.

I would likely opt for full electric over the C63. It's not like you'd be losing V8 sound...can't imagine the 4 cyl sounds all that good (will reserve final judgment till later).

This is all about compliance with global emission standards. Not enough batteries to go 100% electric right now. This is a bridge car.

Nuts! I'd have an M4 X-drive over this all day everyday. In fact, a Tesla would be better at least it would be cheaper to run!

New C63 with 671hp and 752lb-ft, anybody reconsidering their G8X?

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...ance-revealed/

What a curveball from AMG.

-2.0 I4 with electric motor
-671hp
-752lb-ft
-4654lbs curb weight

Thoughts?

I think it looks great but losing the V8 is a huge bummer and 4654 lbs is one heavy SOB!

If they kept the V8, added the e-turbo tech w/ 4-matic I'd be way more tempted.

I do love that Mat did not hold back with the PM in that video! He has my respect.

Yes , another "great" car after Amg 4 door 63 s e-performance . Event though it will have good straight line accelerations , you have to pray in corners .

Last year they were testing the S-Class 63/73 amg in Austria and i asked the testing engineer if it understeers . He answered "A lot , too much. At 2.4 tons what do you expect?"

Anyway , don't expect any real reviews from Amg fanboys.

I'm sure lots of people will just look at hp number and be interested but I'm not interested because of the 4 banger with electric assist and the crazy curb weight.

I'm going to be upgrading to a G8X from a golf R 6MT and I would keep my R over buying the new c63

I personally dislike the center infotainment. Feel like it would keep your eyes off the road for very long. More importantly, the loss of the v8.

4650 pounds.
And I thought my m4 was too heavy at 3800 lbs
Car will feel terrible in corners even with AWD. I used to be a huge amg fan boy but this is way too heavy. Also the full power is not available all the time.

I used to be big on AMG... or I guess I should just call it Mercedes honestly. Having owned the older c63 and then a '21 c43, I believe Mercedes is a more accurate description over calling these cars AMG's anymore. Post what... 2015 was the C-class update? They've made their cars prettier, more luxurious and that's fine, but it was just not fun. I've tested their range after I got bored of the c43 and nothing appealed to me more than the g82 I have now. I picked it over a new c63s and AMG GT. Bottom line is if you're looking for good German driver engagement, you don't need an AMG, just an M.

I don't want to make any early calls on a car I haven't driven yet, but I'm sure the new c63 will be a torquey little car... that's what they're going for anyways. It makes sense in a way, they had the same 4.0L V8 in literally every AMG from 2015 to now. I'm sure restrictions is the #1 reason why they did it, but it never made sense to me how every AMG car had the same engine.

So no, I don't think I'd ever go back to Mercedes besides looking into SUV's... although I'd probably rather buy a Cayenne than a GLS. One thing to note about Mercedes' smaller engines. They're hot off the block. My c43 was not worth it to tune at all due to the reinforcements required to keep it safe. You could bump it up to roughly 420hp before you have to start thinking about pistons.

Also, hot take: not a huge fan of the AMG 4.0's. They sound lazy, no modulation in tone. Just a deep rumble no matter the rpm.

I've always been fond of C63 coupes and would have one now if I could get one with a 6mt. BMW is the next best thing.

Looking forward to you getting your G8X! You're gonna love it coming from the R. I'm guessing you're going with manual? Both transmissions are pretty fun in my opinion. Which is good because everyone has different preferences, and there's a fun option either way you go.

Only 0.1 seconds faster to 60 than the M4 Comp X-Drive and 600+ lbs heavier? What happens in the corners is more important to me.

As an ex-C63 owner, I love the center infotainment system and steering wheel. Not a fan of the new gauge. Not a fan of it getting a 4-cylinder engine, especially since I had such huge reliability issues with the engine in the CLA 45. The 4.0 V8 in the C63 was also absolutely amazing and, honestly, the main reason I bought the C63 over the M4 in the past. The C63 going 4 cylinders this gen made the decision of getting an M4 far easier this generation.

I have an oddly huge desire to drive it. Also, after seeing how quickly my SO's 530e eats tires due to its weight, I think buyers of this fella will be replacing tires a lot.
