M3 vs M4 fender width

Have not been able to see either in person but I remember I chose the F80 over the F82 because the M3 had much wider rear fenders and it simply looked meaner. Is that the case with the new generation? Thanks

Yes very much so. I find the M4 rear fenders to be pretty restrained compared to the M3. The M3 looks like it's on rhino roids.

The M3 fenders are very pronounced and flared while the M4 fenders are blended into the bodywork, mainly because of the 2 vs. 4 door design. But the actual rear width of both cars are still the same.

According to the G80/G82 technical guide, the dimensions of the G80 front fender width (c) are 1903 mm and the G82 is 1887 mm. It doesn't give a dimension for the rear but as JY01 said above, they look wider.

I think they look wider because the bulge is over-accentuated, but (maybe it's just me) I think the G82 has a more pronounced look than the F82 did.

One thing I prefer about the M3 over the M4 is it has a very aggressive pinched in the middle look. The fenders on all 4 corners really stick out and it makes the M3 look so much more aggressive from some angles. To me there is a huge difference between the regular 3 series and the M3 but the M4 just looks like a 4 series.

Fully agree here. The M3 bulges in all the right places and has a tighter/smaller waste the the M4.

M4 got them hips though, and they don't lie.

The M3 hips look wider because the base 3series is narrower than the 4 series, thus the M4 needs less "widening" than the M3.
Both cars have the same width though, cause the M axle is identical. Was the same thing in the f8x cars.
