Cat-back exhausts remove the secondary cats which is technically illegal in California.

I think we should start with what California actually allows, then work backwards from there.

I know several cat-back exhausts that do not remove the secondary cats. Although I have seen some Porsche exhausts remove the secondary's, I believe majority of cat back systems do not remove the secondary cats.

My current set up is catless downpipes, both (2) resonator deletes (x-pipe), and the stock rear section. I still have my secondary cats.

Safe to say the car will barely sound any different after I throw on the Switchpath and their non res mid pipes?? I would expect the tone to be different, but volume maybe 10% louder?

Disappointed that there's no option to remove the secondary cats and further so that this system won't work with any other brand's midpipes (that all remove the said 2nd cats)

No way. They need to just stop making stuff for California lol. Axle back only. Even then don't you have a new law that doesn't allow any modifications of exhaust?

For the G8x platform I think Remus (for US market) and AWE cat-backs system do not remove the secondary cats. AA x-pipe midpipe has option to replace them with 100 cell cats. I think most midpipes and cat-backs for this platform replace the secondary cats.

Do you have any videos of your current setup?

R44 will have a secondary delete pipe out soon. I inquired to them about getting the Remus secondary delete to the states and they told me they have one in development. So once they let me know I'll share.

"We actually have our own that have been in development. We have them getting final checks over the weekend/early next week. Is this something you would consider?"

This is something that would work with AWE's CBE and mid setup?

I'll know more by next week but seems promising. Would be great if it was to work with stock and aftermarket systems.

Fabspeed also sells everything separately which is convenient. So you have the option to just replace the muffler section without deleting resonators/secondary cats. They sell everything from sport cats, to the mid-pipe section, to the rear mufflers which are valved. I love my setup on my M3!

Your exhaust sounded really good. You still have secondary cats?

Yup still have the secondary cats. Like the sound too not raspy at all and I'm content with that but still like to know my options If I did decide to delete them or add Catted DP's down the road.. Black Friday is around the corner just putting a list together just in case..

Are there any videos of just the track exhaust rear section with otherwise stock midpipe? Any drone at HW cruising speed or elsewhere? I like the idea of the weight savings and running this should be like running the stock exhaust with the valves wired open.

Best video is the one direct from AWE. I think they showed all 4 possible combinations in it (switch and track w and w/o mids).

5:07 is the stock mids with the Track Edition.

You can always go that route and then add the mid pipes later on, I have done the conversion personally and its nice that you don't have to uninstall the exhaust to install the mid pipes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the track edition exhaust you technically wouldn't need to code off ASD right? Since there's no flaps, you can just press the button to have ASD toggled off so you don't have the pumped noise in the cabin and just hear the back end since there's no flaps left for it to modulate I'm assuming.

As far as I'm aware, those were the only two things ASD did... so please correct me if I'm wrong lol

(I've tried finding threads on ASD since I know they exists, but I apparently suck at searching for threads in bimmerpost)
