I was looking at one, but I think Audi have priced them too high for what they are and I didn't like the all digital interior. They are very fast though, esp with a tune

there is something about them though, and we all know its mostly the sounds. No s55 or s58 can sound as good period. I'm on my 3rd rs3, yes 3rd not including a ttrs I had for a short time. My last one I built the motor, there where so many supporting mods that needed to be done it took away from the car imho. The transverse engine and being mostly front bias can be mentally frustrating to get past, I still struggle with knowing it. But being light weight and a full 5 cylinder they make a great little pocket rocket. Shame the shit on the interior in the 8y's they addressed the rear diff and removed that crappy haldex. Personally I think Audi dropped the ball on all the new interiors, I just dislike the flat touch infotainment setup so much its not attractive imho.

That's where I was at as well, it's a great platform but needs to be modded to make it competitive with with M3, whereas the M3 Comp X Drive is just fast out of the gate. Agree you can't beat the sound of the 5 cylinder engine

I was driving behind one some days ago…and I noticed one thing on the car that made me think it is somehow warped…

The front axle and fenders are wider than the rear and this looks soo odd. As soon as you see the car a bit from the side view it pops out so much.

I then looked up the specs…you simply can't make that cars stance look god…it has a staggered setup, but front is wider than the rear.
Front stock is a 9 x 19 ET25 with a 265 tire and rear is 8 x 19 ET46 and a 245..

Naw that's Mercedes. Going 4cyl hybrid BS. The one Merc I liked was the E53 AMG since that was inline 6 turbo awd.

I noticed that exact thing while driving behind one on the Autobahn the other day. Everything seems backwards with it, it looked like it was crab-walking all over the road.

Hard pass for me, it was and will always be an overpriced Golf with an extra cylinder.

Haha yeah, that's a good explanation. It really looks like a crab walking.

Agree, it definitely is overpriced, also in terms of interior quality they made a step back.

The new A3 has the cheapest Audi interior in decades. A new Honda Civic all spec'd out has a nicer interior that feels higher quality.

These two cars are $20-30k apart. You could buy that Civic with the left over change you'd have getting an RS3. They're really in two different leagues. I've sat in an S3 at the dealer and the interior is really not that bad. I would have liked to see more carbon fiber and alcantara, but the fit/finish is great. They get more alcantara in the EU models. VW/Audi decided to keep some of the good stuff from making it to the US. How many other $59,000 cars out there are running deep into the 11's in the 1/4 mile at almost 120mph and getting to 60 in 3.5 seconds for $59k? I can't think of any. I think the car is priced appropriately. There are really no other cars in this segment that perform comparibly and other than shoulder and head room, the RS3 has similar interior dimensions as the G80 when it comes to legroom. If someone wants to drop $90k+ on a well-optioned G80, they aren't shopping for an RS3.

That's all you usually get with a rs or m upgrade. It's mostly exterior trim and rims/brakes plus HP usually Ms have bulging fenders sometimes they have interior upgrades also

Right, but the Audi interior in general on all models has been "meh" in my opinion for a while. I also guarantee nobody is going to think "330i" when you sit in an M3 with carbon buckets, full leather, a colorful interior, and the carbon steering wheel. I feel like if you put someone in the RS3, the interior wouldn't feel any more special than an A3 or S3

I agree with everyone on the interior but they are different cars to start with since it more 2 series. But for performance I think rs3 is easier to exploit then m3 rwd. My friend has rs3 we always competing and in the same car for whatever car event we go to my time faster. But when we go to track m3 vs rs3 there like 3-4 second difference. Rs3 easier to exploit it limits because you have understeer compared to rwd always keeping that rear end always in check. If I was going to for time only rs3 is faster then m3 rwd. M3 Rwd more engaging make you test your limit compared to rs3 at limits you have a more predictable line. I use my m3 as family hauler, light track days, and weekend car. If I was single and care about getting lap times rs3 better to me.

I'm not a fan of the new 8Y 22+ RS3s, they look weird to me. I also heard the interior quality is a step down compared to previous years (cost-cutting) and the ECU is pretty locked down like the G8x, same Bosch MG1 if I recall. Future tuning might be a challenge.

If you want to go fast right now, the 8V 2017-2020 RS3 is an excellent platform. You can go and build yourself a 1300WHP RS3 right now that runs low 8s if you wanted to with the insane aftermarket support it has. I'm not sure how long the aftermarket support will take to reach the same level on the G8x.

I currently have a 2018 RS3 with bolt-ons and a modified OEM/Hybrid TTE700 turbo that runs 9.96 @ 142mph, with a full interior on street tires. My favorite part of the car is the way it sounds (baby turbo Lamborghini V10) and the size/nimbleness. I also love the sleeper look and it flys way under the radar for those who don't know what an RS3 is. I don't track the car so this car checks all the boxes for me, it's been the best daily driver that I could ask for.

At one point in time, I was considering selling both my E92 M3 6MT and RS3 to consolidate into a single car, a G80 X-Drive. In preparation, I sold my M3, but when it came time to let go of my RS3 I just couldn't go through with it even though Carvana offered me more than what I paid for it. I drove a G80 M3 and was impressed but it never left a lasting impression on me, I guess the sound is a big part of driving enjoyment for me and the G8x sounded too similar to my F80. The RS3 makes some glorious noises just like my E9x M3s which hits me in all the right spots. Heck if I'm going to buy a fast car and not enjoy the way it sounds, might as well get a Tesla Plaid or wait for the new 4-cylinder C63 (which looks absolutely gorgeous btw)

Pics of my overpriced Golf with 1 extra cylinder.

Dude, no-one would ever suspect that is a <10 second car. Bravo!

As far as tuning, there are a few companies cracking the code. It's just a matter of time. It may turn out to be more expensive though. There will be plenty of piggy-backs available as well for people that don't want to go all out (like you and your 9 second car ). I think this car with around 475-500whp would be pretty killer.

There are already plenty of G8x that are running high 9's and you don't even need upgraded turbos.

Last week my local guy ran 9.87 @ 137 with just tune, downpipes, PI and E85. Street tires. 716whp. XDrive.

I totally agree with you on the sound. It's very important to a lot of owners for the car to sound great. This is impossible with the F series and not much better in the G cars. My buddy has an RS3 it they do sound phenomenal. Always has amazed me BMW could not do better for the sound. Not shocked though. The manuals have had the same shit feel since my 99 M3. Thank god AA came out with the EQ mids. It has made my F-82 tolerable. The Full Akro sounded like dog shit before that.

That Audi front end though… it looks like it has just come out of a front end collision. I can’t make out any detail at all. I, in a word, hate it.
