RM was actually quite complimentary to the G80. His ultimate concern was parts availability and downtime. He actually dispelled the myth about the brakes, extracting excellent life out of them with a relatively simple cooling mod.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the G80 make a return to the Apex lineup once the platform matures further and parts supply becomes as robust as it is for the older cars. |

Interesting video but I don’t quite get the concept of using it as a taxi. They talk about lap times is this a taxi for race tracks? Doesn’t sound like it’s s taxi in the traditional sense. For me the G edition is way ahead of the F series and I loved my F80 and F82. The car is faster, more interesting to look at, more comfortable (slightly) and with the xdrive it puts power down so much more effectively. As for parts availability, I have found out the hard way how difficult it is to get certain parts right now. I have been waiting since may for a steering rack, I missed the entire summer.

It would be nice to get through a review without mentioning the looks. I digress.
The parts availability isn't an issue for 99% of owners, and otherwise the G80 is just a better all around car. Fun watch though.

I actually liked the review. I've never seen these guys before but it was a nice quick comparison to the old F but more importantly, I enjoyed the improvements they made and the end result.
I wouldn't have thought that heat was THAT big a factor. Well done 👍🏼 |

They are around E30's, E36"s, E46's, E90's, F80's - literally "every day"...it is kind of hard in that environment to not notice the looks of the G80. It is a big departure from the above.

I've started to love the G80 grill. Now when I see the older M cars it seems like something is missing but each M car for me is beautiful in their own ways
It was interesting to note that the G80 had a lot more front tire wear versus the F80

But most importantly: One of the big advantages of the G8x over F8x was its much improved turn in agility/front end bite/grip from its revised front axle setup/geometry! This seems to lead to more wear ... |

That said, the E-Klasse is the de facto taxi in Germany. A 3er would be stupid. |

There's not a lot to take away from this video. Their use case is specific to tracking the car so often that they need to be able to replace parts cost effectively. By all accounts they love driving it around the ring.

It's not even the expense: it's the parts availability. As Robert mentions in the video they just can't get items that for them are consumables (drive shafts, brakes, wheels, etc.). I don't believe the cost difference of running the F80 vs the G80 would be the deal breaker provided they could secure parts in the quantities they need.

hmmm interesting. I feel the parts issue isn't super hindering for most buyers of the car but then again parts status seem to be changing daily these days

They run a GTRS MR as a Ring Taxi. Their rental fleet is also pretty nice. They can afford it just fine. If you watched the video, you'd get the gist of it. BMW and the aftermarket can't keep up on the consumables. Parts availability is questionable at best, and the car sitting means they're not making money. Their F80 has a year's worth of parts which keeps the car in the fleet easily. The same can't be said for the G80. |

For people that never saw the channel this is really worth watching. This is their G80 rental car being driven very hard by a F1 driver for a weekend or so. Then second video recaps how that kind of driving wears on the car. The average renter is not putting this kind of wear on the car. But this is what they have to deal with to maintain their fleet. Their taxi drivers are holding back abit, but there is probably alot more wear than avrage joe driving the rentals. Onboard lap Aftermath of 20+ laps If you like this i can also reconmend looking up the onboard of the same guy in hes GT3 that he got for himself instead of renting.. 😄 Same channel. Not BMW content. |

I doubt any regular buyer of that car is likely to replace their drive shaft during their ownership, no matter how long it is. Yet for Apex that is a consumable that they replace every X-many miles. Their use case is certainly not typical.
