I hope not, I think the M4 GT3 would look fantastic in just the blue color coming through on the right in the picture above mixed with CF trim. The red grill is too much and looks like lipstick on a muscle man, not my thing

They're still racing. Borderline outdated equipment for the time being, but nonetheless. You'll still see Bill Auberlen and plenty of M cars on an IMSA weekend. And yeah, M4 GT3 pending, M2 CS Racing is awesome. "Mainstream" with roll cage? No, but GTS has one. They need to keep that going, just add compatible seats and harnesses this time around so it's not some sort of cruel joke.

...and as far as I know, the E36 LTW did not come with a cage.

Don't think Euro spec would have worked anyways though. Harness slots too low, probably too tight. I wonder how McLaren is doing it. Dealer install? User agreements? Whatever the workaround BMW needs to sign on.

I'm not sure if that's it. GT cars get the buckets, but not the Clubsport package option here.

The math simply didn't make sense for BMW on legalizing the CSL versions. Production was too small to go through crash testing and redesigning certain pieces. Federalization costs well into seven figures so the profitability from selling a few hundred cars doesn't pencil out. They also don't need a halo car to sell every M3/4 they can make. |

As far as I know, seats are the exact same U.S. and Euro. U.S. driver seat even has the sub belt slot.

What we do know is this will be pricey! Maybe upwards of USD $130K?
Also, I have a glimmer of hope that it will be in MT. Why? Because BMW understands that this will be an enthusiast car, and nowadays, it is all about the analog aspect. They probably learned from the M3/4 CS with the M2CS. Its all about collectability now. But we shall see...

The F87 CS was seen in development for several years before it was announced. I can't imagine a G82 CSL would just appear and be available next year. At a minimum it would be post LCI and warrant several years of tuning to warrant the designation.
Unless it's just a bunch of MP parts and an ECU tuned engine. Somehow though I don't think that will be the case for such an important release. |

There is a schedule for everything, and the necessary tests are only performed when it's due. The car is out when timing is right, not when it's ready as possibly soonest. 95% or more of the R&D is already done when the base car is done. The G82 CSL R&D and validation can be done in a few months or even weeks if necessary. The year of 2022 fits as a launch time, given the G8X product pipeline.
