We can relax, I think. In an interview published today M chief Markus Flasch confirmed that the next M3 will be available with a stick.

The linked article/interview contradicts this thread's 'no-manual' claim.

Long story longer, it looks like they are indeed committed to offer a manual option for the next generation G82.

So you can breath easy.

I like the new M boss already... Good analogy to the mechanical watches.

"Manual is very important. The manual stick shift is not a performance-bringer, because an automatic transmission is just faster, you can ask any race driver. But it gives the vehicle character and I kind of compare it to people who love mechanical watches; it isn’t more precise and it doesn’t have any advantage at all but it’s a character feature. Not a good trend.
Isn't the muffler basically a functional part of the underbody aerodynamic system? I've seen some paint them flat black with high temp paint.
Not necessarily.

The M2 had a small muffler on it until the M2 competition came out.

All part of the BMW AG/Bimmerpost guerilla test marketing... next there will be a poll...

[2] It is a type of publicity. "

My hypothesis based on how bmw suddenly obfuscated and removed information that ynguldyn uses for his forecasting is that they are not actually removing the manual but instead trying to cut the leaks in general until they can release the car.

I generally think that bmw silently allows this practice to go on to keep deep rooted fans in the know as to what's going on but in this case too much is getting out and they want to save some details for themselves.

I suppose we will know the truth of all this eventually.....

First slap in the face with the giant grill

Then kick in the nuts with NO MT

Now MT is back and we are all happy so that the huge grill is forgotten. Lol

I am so glad the MT is back that I will celebrate

In the new video it definitely looks stable and more planted, that's a great thing. Must be the M xDrive.

Wish they were more aggressive bulged wheel arches.

Nail, meet coffin.

Seems like BMW is in a bit of turmoil currently given leadership changes.

But...in my heart...I still have hope.

And, if not, I'll hang on to my current BMWs and perhaps get past my "mid-life crisis" perception of 911s. . (No offense!)

I don't understand how this is true, given that Markus Flasch himself says that there would be a manual:

https://www.bmwblog.com/2019/07/23/i...-transmission/

BB: The upcoming BMW M3 and M4 are some of the most highly anticipated M cars in a very long time. Will there be any surprises for BMW fans?

MF: No, it’s a bit early to disclose all the details but something I want to highlight is that we will have a manual stick shift. We have already disclosed we will have the option of four-wheel drive. We’ve not decided which variant, which system, but everything that’s on our current lineup; think of the M5; can be made available. The M3 and M4, I’ve driven the pre-production cars already and they’re fantastic.

BB: You’ve already sort of answered this by saying the manual will still be available in the M3 but will it be available in other M cars moving forward?

MF: Manual is very important. So is a stick shift.

I have no idea what to think at this point with any certainty. I'd imagine the easiest way to make everyone happy is to do RWD 6MT and 8-speed M xDrive M Sport Automatic w/ DL.
