ok, took delivery of mine and rushed home to catch the F1 race, which I am watching now.

11 miles so far and here are a few tidbits based on my previous ownership of 22 M4Cx, M2CS, and 19 M5C. I drove home in Comfort mode. The car has fixed buckets and I did not specify the tire under the assumption it would come with the Cups but it arrived with the PS4s. Not a big deal, tires are easily replaceable but I doubt I will bother any time soon.

First I will say that the CSL ride quality is certainly not too much for the street, fully enjoyable, even on some rough/bumpy sections it was not bad at all, I would compare it to my M4 Comp with KW HAS lowered about an inch.

The engine/exhaust volume is very GT3 like, obviously a different tone but really enjoyable. I know these engines sound different from the outside, but from inside it sounds very good and is definitely louder than the M4 but it's not offensive like a catless straight exhaust, it is still a "from the factory" level.

The full leather and carbon interior is super nice. Sort of makes me not want to drive it, feels very special and looking out over the hood with the exposed carbon (no stripes) ticks it up a little, pretty cool.

This will probably irritate the Porschefellers but I have spent a lot of time driving GT3s of various generations and they give a special experience, the sound, the "less is more" feeling, the fact you're driving a GT3 at all....
Driving this M4CSL immediately gave me such a similar feeling. The sound, the less is more feeling, knowing this is BMW's best, it honestly shows. The car is nicer than a 991.2 GT3 (the 992 is similar) and the sense of occasion is similar. It's faster on the ring than the last GT3 (the 992 is bananas).

I can completely understand how an "old BMW" loyalist sees the new cars and doesn't like their look or whatever bone there is to pick with change and also how a journalist could look at the new grills and stripes and badges and the fact it isn't 2900 lbs and call it a marketing gimmick......but then get in the car and say, ok this is pretty badass. Personally I love the way it looks and the drive is all there at least from initial experience, it just makes you say, "wow, yeah this is the real deal." If you're paying sticker for this you will feel like you stole it.

Of course this is all just an initial impression, maybe if I drive it more I will hate it, lol. But I doubt it.

Did you have the fixed bucket adjusted to your preferred height by the dealership prior to delivery?

No but I plan to lower them myself. It's 4 hex bolts, 2 per side.

I'm 6' 210lbs so the as shipped level is def too high but the seats themselves are not too tight.

I've had a few dealers go "you know only X number of cars are coming". And each one has told me a different number.

This ADM is lunacy. As I've said on this thread countless times, pay nothing more than MSRP.

So is there a risk of dinging or scratching the carbon fiber? Also, all the dumb media articles that says you need to "take it to the dealer" or "take it to a workshop" was just BS right?

I am sure that was BMW press prep for keeping it luxury. If you know how to turn a wrench it's easy. The real risk is damaging the seat I am sure and if a dealer does the damage, you don't have to pay for it so really it's time vs risk.

The bolt goes through a metal base so any scratching would be done to the base not the seat. I will have to look at it more closely later but on first glance, the bolt comes out the seat moves and the bolt goes back in and doesn't need to be tightened until the seat is positioned where you want it. It seems like it can be done without scratches.

Congrats on the car! I'm glad you're enjoying it too. I had very similar thoughts when I first drove it and It gets better when you get used to it and push it more. I'm actually glad someone else agrees with me regarding the sound because when I read that some of the British journalist thought it sounded like trash and quiet from the inside I was surprised. Maybe it's the OPF there.

Regarding the tires, the same happened to me . The standard is the Cup2 R, you don't need to option them and I got the PS4 which is an option. I've been trying to get them and the dealer told me they can't order them on the system. Did you speak to your dealer about it?

I'm not going to say anything because I didn't specify the tire so it's sort of on me too. if I had said, make sure it has the cups and it didn't, then I would ask a few questions.

My understanding are Cup2Rs are backordered (they are on tire rack also), so this is why everyone is coming with PS4s.

lol! So your saying there's a chance now! 100% thought the same thing…Cups = no chance before the weather turns. Assuming the car actually hits the rail to the east coast in enough time anyway!

That same dealer I believe put a $100k ADM in the M5 CS and someone did pay it. Going to be a long time before dealers get off the high from ADMs and start accepting the new normal.

It's funny how some people are saying "never pay more than msrp". Then most of us won't be getting an M4 CSL! If you got one at msrp then you're extraordinarily lucky to have a local dealer who you've either got an exceptional relationship with (bought loads of cars from them) or they're one of about 1% of ethical dealers who don't charge mark ups. Congrats, I am happy for you, that's how it should be.

My local Porsche dealer doesn't charge markups, it's the only one I've found so far that doesn't. The result? They have a backlog of deposits through 2023 and beyond. Local BMW dealer on the other hand would rather ship an CS across the country for a small mark up than sell it to me who's bought and sold M cars from them, and back to them, over the years. It's nuts.

If anyone knows of an M4 CSL up for grabs for less than a $50k mark up, let me know.....

Just as a follow up to the seat adjustment, I am of the opinion now it is best to remove the seat with bracket from the car, then unbolt the seat from bracket to move it. The front inner seat to bracket bolt is just too close to the trans tunnel/console to get it.

Are the seat rail / slider to floor bolts accessible in all 3 seat height positions in order to remove seat this way?
