What was your M evolution? First M car, next, and how did you end up here?
Pics appreciated! Z4 M Roadster 2006, picked up in 2007 with 100 miles on it .. major deal, couldn't pass it up. Traded for the E92 2013. Ordered car from Munich. ZCP, 6 speed single hump. Traded this (another deal I couldn't pass up) for the G80 6 speed, now in the house.

Purchased new: 1979 320i, 1983 533i, 2001 733i, 2008 535 xi, 2011 M3 convertible (traded in one month for 2011 335is convertible), 2011.5 M3 sedan (bought for my son), and soon to be delivered 2023 M4 Competition Xdrive Coupe.
In 1979, there were no BMW dealers in the US. The North American BMW importer set up business networks through car dealers selling other brands. I bought mine through a Toyota dealer who later became a BMW dealer. My paperwork included the Bill of Lading from Germany to the US. My 1983 533i was purchased through that BMW dealership.

Friend showed me his older bros e36. Tbh I was 14/15 ish didn't see what the hoopla was about
This same friend then got an e46 and let me drive it. I didn't gun it or do anything crazy just kinda drove it normally thought it felt good but didn't understand the hoopla again. He then proceeded to go about 90-110 and show me the handling and I was pretty impressed from the passenger seat. Got a chance to drive another friends 46, was a bit more brave at this point and it felt really solid. In 2013 was searching for a e46 manual but with the prices I went to e92 manual. Spent about 6-8k more than I wanted but it was under 20k mileage 1 owner. Fast forward to today. In between these times I've own several cars/leases of different brands feel like bmw M cars are special. Had it not been for that friend that showed me I'd probably be some sort of ricer or just driving a mini van or something. Have a longer wait for my m3 g80 (guessing about a year) but I don't mind. |

I'm still waiting to get an allocation for a G80. But, my past:
1987 325e 2000 328i 2004 330i (ZHP) 2008 550i M-Sport 2013 335i M-Sport 2011.5 M3 2015 750i 2016 550i 2016 X5 (wife's car) 2016 M3 2006 330i convertible (second car with the f80) 2020 m340i 2021 m340i (current) Yeah, I get bored easily with cars. But, get so excited with each new one. Hoping to add a G80 to the list soon! I'm supposedly "next on the list" for an allocation. |

Not much of an "M" Evolution. Nonetheless, I had a 2011 AMG c63 and then swapped for a '21 c43 almost two years ago. Now I have a 6 speed g82!
Basically I traded in the AMG's and came out with the only letter that mattered |

Majority of my progression has happened within the last year, haha. Has been an interesting ride to say the least.
Started off with an E46 M3 back in 2004. Was an SMG and eventually did a 6SPD manual swap. Had it for a while and just sold it in 2021 when market was at its peak. Ended up getting my wife a X4MC in the mean time but only held on to it for 8 months. I had my M2C as well I had an absolute nightmare with the M2. First purchase out of state because it was impossible to get a '21 allocation and the DMV gave me absolute hell trying to get the car registered. Multiple trips to the DMV and what not got me no where to the point I got so fed up and got rid of the car and deposited for an allocation for a G80. Fast forward, we got rid of the X4M and got a X3M40i. The X4M was just "too much car" for my wife as a daily with now our first baby and G80 just arrived last week in individual Atlantis blue, so it's been a nice ride for the past year! I will say, we were super lucky to not lose any money on the in and out of cars. The used car market worked in our favor, in fact we walked away ahead on all of our exits given we were sold the X4M at a discount and everything else at least at MSRP. |

Your G80 pops up… holy ship!?;()$& Had to scroll back! That's the best picture of that color I have ever seen. Looks fantastic!!!! Back on topic… Disclaimer… When I was 17 years old I said if I can ever afford a BMW I would only "buy" an M3… the only thing I knew about a lease was it would cost me extra if I drove over certain miles and I had to give it back… So I never leased although I probably could have… For the sake of this post please don't reply with why leasing works for "you" or whatever CPO 2016 F80 6MT New G80 6MT |

I became a BMW fan when my father bought an E46 330i sport pack when I was a kid. That car got passed down to me when I got my license. That car was a blast, but it eventually had to go. Then earlier this year I bought my own M2 comp! I love it so far, but still lusting for a base G80 to me it is the perfect one car solution! Hoping to get one of the last ones before the move to hybrid/no manual option.

When i was getting "in to cars" was when the E46 came out, that was the dream. I made a pit stop in the hot-hatches but finally got around to a M car.

My wife and I have driven BMWs starting in 1980 with a 320i and then numerous 3 and 5 series including wagons and the wife's current X4. My first M car was a 2003 M5 followed by:
2007 M5 2013 M3 LRP 2016 M4 2018 M3 and the current 2022 M4C Loved each one of them, but some more than others. Sorry, first two pictures are sideways and I can't figure out how to fix.

The M3 was my dream car as a young teen. I'm very grateful that I've had the opportunity to own 3 of them so far.
