G80/G82 Photos From BMW Experience Anaheim, CA

Attended a BMW event at Anaheim Angels stadium and got this shot. If you blow up the M3, you can see a large sensor on the lower-right hand quadrant of the grille.

Thanks for the pics. I actually work for a large company that shares that parking lot.

Looks much better here than in other media.

They are both horrid!!

Not just the front end. It’s the whole shape of the pair of them. Looks huge and bloated.

The sensor is part of some package, you don't have to get it.

I have a lot of negative things to say about the design of this car. Mainly it feels like the front, side, and rear were all designed by different people. The lines just don't seem to match up.

I don't care how fast is, that car is a hard pass. I said the same about the F80, but at least it looks good. I'm good without a turbo 6 in something that looks and sounds like that. Those grills are unforgivable.

Maybe they'll end up with different variants for different markets... China has the greatest influence for design these days since they're the biggest market, maybe the USDM will get a "classic" variant. I don't think the spec of the m3 in this picture is very flattering with the black wheels and base trim, some aero and different wheels would help it, looks a bit gangly there. The m4 looks good. What if they did an estate "G81" version. Might look good in that highlighter yellow with a bunch of carbon lowered?

Hey All You Cool Cats and Kittens,

I went to the BMW Experience today and took some quick shots of the New M3, M4, M440i xDrive and a 2021 530e. Hope you enjoy.

Also, Crevier BMW Santa Ana, CA has a 2021 M440i on the showroom floor.

(Apologies for the sideways pictures)

I am a photographer also, and what you are seeing is a lot of lens distortion. This was taken with a phone... I am serious, the distortion changes the shape dramatically.
The only really way to photograph a car is with a DSLR camera, and ideally a 40-50mm prime lens, which is known to introduce minimal of not zero distortions...

And I am neutral on the front end and shape until I see them in real life.. I am slowly growing to it I believe.

I have not been a fan of the big grill movement - but somehow, someway the G8x is actually growing on me each time I see a pic of one. Starting to get interested in what an eventual ZCP might look like... The aftermarket bumpers look to be pretty promising as well.

A DSLR will not save this fugly beast, and the other post's comment about the front plates is spot on, the euro plate provides a break in the black hole which will look quite ridiculous with a US plate in the void.

Just don't put a front plate... most states don't require it ? I only wear a plate on my Shelby when I go for a sticker, then I remove it right after that...

All I can figure is BMW wants the world to KNOW the e82 a new model. That will please new owners who just dropped $80K, or whatever the car costs. The uninitiated sometimes think we drive a current generation M3. The fact is, the two recent M3 generations (known as M4) look similar to the e92 in some ways. Our cars are more understated, of course, which I like.

All that said — and I've yet to see the e82 in person — those gaping grilles are starting to grow on me. Still, I'm not ready to give up my V8.

Was there too. G series M3/4 doesn't look much better in person. It's a huge overstyled infinity. I'm sure it will be fast, but the days of a handsome dual purpose drivers car with feel are just totally long gone.

I'm sure some will like over the top package, but it's just not what I remember the winning M formula to be. Courageous design is one thing but this version and the colors they chose to display (interior colors were wild too) are indications that they are 100% bought into the more is more philosophy.

I don't think you're going to see different designs for different markets. And they are doing an Estate but the US won't be getting it.

Midday photos are unflattering. Smartphones tend to be on the cooler side and desaturated midday because the sun is so harsh. You have to correct for it in post processing.

Man. I'll say it again. It's all about angles with these cars.

I see some pictures that make the cars look beautiful and mean. And others that just make them look....awful.

I've never seen any car this polarizing from picture to picture.
