It is much easier to sell an Old Man on a Young Man's car than it is to sell a Young Man on an Old Man's car!

where are all the press reviews showing ACTUAL performance of the car?

When the F80 came out there was much more relevant feedback on the car. This M-town BS is a joke, and the car with all the clown colors and tacked on bling isn't helping either.

Show me quarter mile, track times, reviews by professionals...

Slowly getting on the train. I want to see actual reviews tho and I'd expect them to come through before having to make a decision with my f80.

This should replace that first video they did that seemed to be aimed more towards hipster art students.

The F80 was not ever an auto journo fan favorite. In fact, it was regularly lambasted through to the very end.

I fully expect the G80 to do better given the social shill culture present day. We've already seen the YouTube influencer grill apologists coming out of woodwork since marketing launch. "Omg it's much better looking in person" on repeat.

That might have been the most generic M promo video ever. They failed to excite me despite their (or maybe due to?) the formulaic approach.

Wtf stylized engine sounds to the point of being unrecognizable?

Even that X2 millennial promo video was better than this.

I think they figure most people looking for a practical, elegant, sleeper car monster of a sport sedan will just bump up to an m5 rather than losing them to competitors. Right now I really don't need the trunk space or rear seats so theres some amount of cross shopping that is happening but if I did need those things the list of cars im looking at would be very short. Im leaning heavily m3 because I cannot afford an m5 and im projecting that ill need those rear seats at some point so something like a cayman or a c8 is out. So they can attract a whole different customer base who sees the c63 and rs3 as being pretty blah and theyre only really losing their existing customers to themselves

This. I'm not here to hate on the car itself but marketing strategy is a bit odd. It's like they are going for a younger crowd but forgetting that the MSRP is nearly $80k when optioned. Maybe they are hoping to catch those people that fell in love with F&F when they were younger when it first came out? But I feel like those people, like myself, have refined their taste over time and don't really respond well to this type of marketing. This type of racer boy F&F image is what has kept me away from certain cars in the past.

Then again, this is my take, and it's likely a bad take, as I can only speak for myself.

All that said, the last few seconds is 100% of the 6MT vs DCT threads on the F80 section lol.
Keep in mind this is an M3/M4 still, so its kinda a race car. If you dont drive it like you stole it, are you doing it right?* And even if you don't, its nice to know it can. And for the record, though not the majority, the millennial crowd has money saved now. And its not cheap to buy a home in/ near the city, so hmm..

A bit of a missed opportunity at 0:45 with the security guard's pickup.

Instead of the Tacoma, they should've used M GmbH's own E9x M3 Pickup.

If there's one thing BMW fans appreciate is a nice throwback or nod to the past (a la the subtle E39 & E60 references in the F90 ad spot).
Granted, I understand the Port of Koper/Luka Koper is a real place (in Slovenia), but if you're going to make a film about ///M Town, you might as well go all the way.

The car is growing on me but this whole ad campaign has missed the mark for me. Yes, creativity is subjective but would've loved to see something more raw - performance oriented - and less neon-saturated flamboyance.

Manufacturers building boring shitboxes use this type of advertising strategy because their cars have no redeemable features, I would have thought an M car had a lot more to offer than that Hollywood fluff.

The car is so dimly lit, it's hard to appreciate the lines. Was it a video showcasing that the car comes in manual? Was the ending supposed to be funny? Who are they marketing this to?

Maybe it's me? I like the cars but this whole "M Town" theme is so weak.

I thought the editing of the video was really good. I dabble in video editing so I know how hard that must have been to put together . whoever did was very skilled. Hence why I said great edits in there

100% agree that this ad, and indeed the entire dubious "M-Town" advertising campaign are, for the most part, not aimed at actual M3/M4 buyers. The typical M3/M4 buyer is not going care about ads in general. He or she usually knows the market, knows the competitors, and makes an informed decision. These ads are aimed at younger buyers who might be swayed to buy a BMW (maybe, if s/he can afford it, one with a few M badges scattered about). Of course, the same can be said for "halo" cars and advertisements across many automobile manufacturers.

I thought the ending was super hilarious, fire, lit, etc. and it totally spoke to me. I want to live in ///M-Town.

It is hilarious the hate BMW is getting for this car. The disdain for the grills are now seeping into the marketing campaigns as well.

For me, it is exhausting. I think I am getting to a point of staying away from the new M3/M4 threads on this forum.
