Conspiracy theory time... BMW has figured out the Mere Exposure Effect. The basic context is that the more something becomes familiar the more likely you are to associate it with a good experience and/or the familiarity just becomes OK with you. It happens with music all of the time and it's the reason you hear the same songs over and over on the radio and eventually it becomes a "guilty pleasure". You feel dirty because you knew it wasn't right to begin with but it became familiar to you and you accepted it. BMW has done the same with these "leaks" of the front end that we've been getting for over a year at least.

Feel's dirty to say you think that looks good doesn't it...

Going to say that the new Ontario plate looks good.

The G80 looks better than the F80.

Makes the F80 look dated and old very quickly despite its big grill.

Its 2020 there is lots to get used to.

The rear diffuser looks like a bad rake attachment.... who’s ready to go do some farm work? This new design is a FAIL all around.

After enjoying my F80 and now my M2 CS every day, I will definitely be more open to breaking my BMW loyalty next time round.
Perhaps for me this will be a good thing: I have never had a Porsche as a DD, but the inelegance of BMW's latest design language will see to it that I give it a shot.
As long as I can still DD a MT that looks and feels good, I don't care who makes it. I shouldn't have to 'get used to' the look of my expensive sports car.
Look at how tastefully elegant these BMW's are. That's what does it for me. New or used, I will find it elsewhere.

The grill is slowly growing on me. That being said the hood (like a Dodge), roof (no more double bubble), fake side vents (really?), and door handles (wtf) are major steps back and combined make this a dumpster fire design. However, I will reserve final judgement until I see one in person as my beloved 1M is not that photogenic (vs real life).

Well then they are just as ugly on those cars too. Why the cavity behind the handle so huge and round it looks stupid.

Nice to see the front sans license plate disrupting the grill— front looks a tad better without the plate holder

That picture doesn't do the G80 any favours.

Daily Drove a 6mt 981 Cayman on X73 suspension for 2+ years in the Northeast you should give it a go! You'll love it.

Not a fan of the overall styling. I must be getting old but it feels too Fast&Furious.

You don't have to announce you're leaving lol...I kid

Anyways, you should definitely jump to a Porsche, it is marketability better than a BMW if you want the all out sports car feel. A friend recently described it perfectly. A BMW M is a sporty car. A Porsche (718/911) is a sports car. Nothing wrong with either. But one is clearly designed as a sports car from the ground up

Leaving or not, I’m definitely taking the CS with me- that thing is an awesome DD!

I just posted in another thread that I was shocked after a recent drive in a 991.2 GTS and 718 Spyder. The CS actually had more satisfying steering than the 991.2 (which is ++ light and dead on centre). The 718 steered and shifted better than the CS, however I found the window of opportunity for fun to be much smaller.

Next summer I will add Spyder to CS.

If BMW don’t change design language of future M cars, then a 911 in manual will join the fam.

Got to beat on a 718 Spyder last week and I will admit it was magical. The top of 2nd gear with the top down is epic. More something I would think of adding to a fleet than DD...but I doubt I could refrain from driving every day anyhow lol.

Woah! A CS and a Spyder, you lucky dog!!

Also, surprised to hear how great the CS performs as a DD. I also heard it was way too harsh. This is good to know because I was thinking of adding a CS or G80 M3. Can't believe it has depreciated that cost is very similar, with CS being a little less. Very hard to find a good example though. Will keep looking as I have a year and half to browse
