Reality is setting in... BMW no longer makes attractive cars. This thing is FUGLY, period.

Great SUVs and a sporty stance but the sedan and coupes are dead.

If it wasn't for the X5...BMW would be headed the way of Nissan.
.

The cars are great, but I’ll never understand the whole concept of performance SUVs, especially big ass 6 figure M versions from BMWs “light truck” catalog.

Oh... wait for it... like a big ass Nissan Armada SUV!

I can't say I see the point either, but we did drag race X5Ms at M track days.

Perhaps the point is that they can charge more money for them. You are going to get an SUV apparently like the rest of the world these days and have the money to blow on it, why not get the fancy extra peppy SUV.

Agreed 1000%.

I'm a first time BMW owner, and an F80 no less. I'm so glad I went for an F80. The new ones may have more tech and be faster and yada yada. But that front end... ugh. I'm sorry but it is not attractive at all. It just doesn't do it for me. More so stir my soul like my F80 does.

I still can't believe the company that was at the forefront of pioneering SMG/DCT tech now sells these cars with a slush box.

So I would love to deep dive this concept more. If the AT was just as fast as DCT, would we have the debate? Or is it truly just wanting DCT because it is perceived "better"?

Interior is spot on but the exterior still needs more getting used to it.
Though I would love to have those carbon seats on my F82, I have no doubt they will cost as much as the price difference between base and competition models. LOL.

Dam that interior is to die for, mais le visage, je ne sais pas...

As someone that uses the DCT in manual mode all the time, I can say that there no AT that feels like a DCT in manual mode. It feels to me like a motorcycle thru the gears, minus the hiccups of a manual transmission.

However, if you compare a great AT with any DCT in automatic mode then there should not be any debate to a regular driver, IMO: Automatic wins all the time with smoother and faster downshifts than DCT. I understand BMW decision of replacing the DCT with AT, most customers will not care about it, no customer will be complaining about slow/jerky downshifts with the DCT anymore, and is cheaper to mass produce. As long as it does not affect performance and fuel economy, that's it.

Appalling front end. Absolutely hideous with those grills. I love how the one writer for google continues to write articles saying people should over look the grills and purchase the car for the other great things. Hmmm let me spend 70 plus grand on a car and not be totally happy, most idiotic thing I ever read.

The new G80 is, in my opinion, the best looking non-exotic car on the market. I liked it from the get go. I liked the leaks, most of the renders, and the reveal.

For clarification, if we like the car we are in "denial?" Please respond with a simple "yes" or "no."

The problem with this car (and the point you're missing) is that the vast majority of people (not me) made up their minds and decided they disliked it before they actually saw the revealed version. When you see people "coming around" or "convincing themselves" it is a good-looking car, in most cases it's people letting go of nothing more than a pre-conceived notion.

At some point last summer (2019), it became VERY fashionable to hate on the new grilles. People were jumping over themselves to come up with the wittiest grille jokes (insert comment about how our "F8x residuals just went up, derr").

It's ok not to like it. It's ok to like it. It's not ok to dismiss other people's opinions when they differ from your own, especially not on something as subjective as a f***ing bumper.

The interior I wish I had in my F82 .

I'll be interested to see how it look close up but it looks absolutely gorgeous here.

I can't find any love for the exterior design sadly - the silhouette of the F82 will take some beating for me.

No you aren't. You like what you like, but he can also not like what he doesn't.

I am curious though. If this is the best looking non-exotic car on the market for you, what's your, lets say, 2nd and 3rd you are considering? Not factoring in the performance or specs, just looks.

He can like what he likes. He can't (or rather he shouldn't) tell us that IF we have a contrary opinion, "denial isn't just a river in Egypt."

Recent polls on this forum show by 20% he is in the minority.

In terms of non-exotic cars, I am a big fan of the RS5 sportback, the M8 Comp (despite it's enormous size), the M3 CS (not technically available but I have one so I'll include it), the Quadrafoglio, and I'll throw any 911 in their (even though the better looking one's are priced like exotics).

I will say that as a 6MT driver who needs 4 doors, none of these cars check the boxes for me. But i love the looks.

Love this interior. It would be a great combo on one of the darker colors.

I could live with the grille in a nice bold color....but adding all that weight, an automatic instead of DCT. Odd direction.
