Love love love Interlagos! Do it!

I'm going with Hera Mica whenever I get one of these. Best combo of all the dark blues imho.

BMW does a terrible job when it comes to wheel gaps. My 435 xDrive wheel gap used to drive me crazy, had to get coilovers to deal with it. At least for something like M3/M4 they should handle it better. I think Audi and Mercedes does a better job with managing it, at least on their RS/AMG models.

If you tentatively have a November build, you're probably talking about an HEA car then, right? If so, you're limited on your colors/options. I believe the actual customer orders are looking at Jan builds at the earliest.

They have the Frozen Orange on the Canadian configurator, so I don't see why we won't get it in the US.

I wouldn't expect any delay as long as the color itself is available in the US for November production. It is available from the start in Canada which is a good sign for the US, but not an absolute guarantee.

I think they'll make all the standard colors available here, yep.

Actually, I assumed he wasn't talking about an HEA build since we already have an order guide for that, and its widely known that options and colors are limited for those cars.

Not sure if its HEA, but ive been tentatively told it is fully modifiable.

I would be cautious of the language "fully modifiable". HEA cars are limited to HEA options, so you need to know up front if he's selling you his HEA allocation.

hmmm. I think they had to make some choices when they setup their HEA orders, so when they say fully modifiable, they might mean fully modifiable within the HEA menu. I don't think any dealers have allocations for customer orders yet.

Good to know brother. I will pass if these are the only options.

True, but a dealership doesn't need an allocation to "sell" him a car. My understanding was that production for customer cars begins in November, but I am not 100% sure on that.

Word of advise from a retired BMW M high level engineer, who told me this in person in Germany at the Ring, frozen colors are only for the showroom. I discussed with him getting a future frozen color and he talked me out of it. It's also interesting with all of the BMW Driving Experiences I have trained to date with BMW M, not one M car in the track fleet was a frozen individual color— only metallic individual colors.

Yeah, that's what I thought previously from what seemed to be reliable sources, so I'm hoping that's still the case. My F80 is due up in March, and I think I want to stick with RWD, so I should be able to slide into something fairly quickly if so.

In a lot of the videos that came out last week, everyone was saying January Builds for March deliveries, which doesn't make sense with the typical cycles, but I suppose if they're doing HEA during the normal timeframe and scaling up production, that might make sense?

Very true, and you make very valid points. But I lease. I will never own a car if I can help it. It's not even my car! lol.

Unfortunately, I see no better option from these offerings. Every other color being offered does absolutely nothing for me.

I am seeing an equal amount of enthusiasm early on for the G8x compared to the F8x. Both the dealerships I am familiar with in my area have taken numerous deposits on the G80 alone. If March is your horizon, I would put $500 down and get in line in the order bank.

Apparently the press release from last week and the BMW blog sites had US delivery starting March 2021. It doesn't take 5 months to ship from Germany to the US via boat. Maybe delayed DOT testing is the reason for the delay.

From what I have read, dealerships only have HEA build allocations, which can be fully modified within the HEA order guides. The full US order guides hasn't been released to date, or "leaked" to us on the forums. I suspect that the packages that BMW NA is going to offer for the US market has production delays, which would explain March 2021 market availability.

I'm not going to let them think I might pay anything close to MSRP, it's still a bit cold in March, so I could putt around in the X7 until early summer if needed.

I agree with leasing, as I also lease. I'm not sure what BMWFS position is now on frozen colors in the COVID environment, as BMW NA special order department would need to approve frozen orange.

Not sure how it will price out, as if you look at the order guides, the P1 frozen colors for the M5 and M8 are priced at $3,200, where as the 8 series P1 frozen is over $5k.

People are paying $5k over sticker for the first allocations each dealer is getting in my area. My CA is a good friend and I am happy to be one of the first on the road and pay sticker. My desire to get back into a 6MT ASAP is a big factor there. The way I option this thing it's not going to be cheap...but I recently spent a lot of time on the Porsche configurator and it's certainly going to be cheaper than that!

Let's not jinx it....if approved I can start a thread where I hyperstalk whatever vessel I end up on and pay $25/month for satellite tracking to get the vessel's location when its in the middle of the atlantic...speaking from experience with my first F80.
