Ram TRX vs Ford Raptor

The Raptor has long been the quintessential off road sports truck (well since the Cyclone/Typhoon anyway). Here's a comparo with Dodge's new beast on the block. Forget off road capabilities for a second. Check out the ridiculous 1/4 mile time.

Just when you thought a truck couldn't get any more badass than the Raptor, the TRex comes along.

insane truck! I wonder what chevy if at all will come out with to compete. I feel like almost have to after this. The raptor is such a great truck, this TRX though wow. Good for dodge for pushing the lines! Ford your move!

As the owner of a 2012 Raptor [6.2 V8] I'm hoping for the GT500 engine. That new RAM is very impressive and that easter egg is killer.

Am I the only one who realizes the raptor wasn’t really about 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? If this rebadged hello kitty truck is a standard 1500, it won’t be better than, nor outsell the raptor. Time will tell.

Regardless if they do or not, I think the TRX looks better inside/out, granted it's not a very fair fight until next gen Ford comes out.

I built one online last weekend and it came out to $85k and I still skipped some options. That hurt!

Sitting here right now and being offered the keys for one of the two, I'd pick the TRX all day long. I have always liked the idea of the raptor. It's capable and looks awesome. I see them all over the place. However. Like the exhaust note on S55, I HATE the sound of the current Raptor. It's a big turnoff for me. I also don't like the width of the Raptor, so it would be a tough fit for where I live. Lastly, I don't have any use for a desert runner. If I lived out West and had more space, I'd probably have a raptor.

The Ram, although still a big truck, doesn't appear quite as wide. And it doesn't seem to be as heavily focused on going flat out in the desert. Seems like it would be decent at doing whatever you throw at it. And it can tow a car or other heavy stuff. It's been my understanding that while the Raptor can tow, the soft suspension isn't ideal. And yeah, 700 hp would be fun.

I was watching a few vids this morning on the TRX dang that thing is a beast. but what about the hummer truck? is that a competitor at all? I mean it looks like it has some pretty insane numbers and features also? Thoughts?

I don't think they compete even though the base one will be similarly priced as the TRX.

To me, either you want a supercharged V8, or you want electric

If you asked me between the 2, it'd be really tough for me to pick, but I'd probably go with the Hummer.
1) T tops
2) electric DD, ICE M cars. Good combo

I know these are technically competitors to each other but there is a good 20K price difference between the two with relatively similar options. Something in the low 60s on the Raptor is hitting low 80s in the TRX. I feel like there's going to be less cross shopping between the two then I originally thought. Even disregarding the fact truck people tend to be brand loyal.

didn't they sell out already of the TRX allocations for a while? I thought I read that?

They sold out of the 702 special launch edition models they were making in just a few hours. I haven't seen anything about the regular model.

I live in an area where there are a lot of trucks and I'm positive I'll see some wandering around shortly after release. We also have a lot of farmers around here driving 70k trucks already. I'm sure there are few of them who'd love to have a 90K truck to show off. They do the same thing with the large farm equipment purchases.
