I test drove the F90 (at a dealer I never went to before) before I bought one. You just gotta find the right dealer I guess. These aren't exotic cars. And plus, if you were serious about buying a lambo, even a lambo dealer would let you test drive one.

Same thing here, test drove a brand new M4C but they knew I was ready to order/buy.

Thanks. I received a similar update from the dealer: pricing will be released late July or early August with a 4-6 month production and shipping leadtime due to limited allocations.

Was originally hoping it would be MY2021. Will lose one year of free maintenance now. That last maintenance would be a big one as well.

Wondering what the price differential would be here. $4100 usd is a lot in the states.

From the news....

The tax is calculated at the lesser of:

- 20 per cent of the value above threshold ($100,000 for cars and personal aircraft; $250,000 for boats) ; or

- 10 per cent of the full value of the luxury car, boat or personal aircraft.

So with discount and $5000 for xDrive could come in just under $100K. Hopefully it's not $5000 or more.

Have to take delivery before Jan 1, 2022 to avoid tax

Is BMW reducing the free scheduled maintenance period in MY 2022? If so, is this published somewhere? Thanks.

from BMW.ca website

†The maintenance schedule intervals are based on normal driving conditions and operation. Additional maintenance not identified by the vehicle’s on-board maintenance system, or wear and tear items such as brakes, clutches, and wiper blades will not be covered. ††Coverage begins on the date of sale, or the date the vehicle is placed in service as a demonstrator or company vehicle, whichever comes first. New BMW vehicles purchased from an authorized BMW Retailer in Canada are covered by a No-Charge Scheduled Maintenance plan for up to 4 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first. Model year 2022 and newer are covered for a period of 3 years or 60,000 kilometers, whichever occurs first. Certain limitations apply. Contact your BMW Retailer for details.

So would leasing be unchanged from a tax perspective? Seems like it only applies to cash or financing in this framework.

If I am right the budget still needs to be accepted. Everyone around me thinks it's totally ridiculous lol

im thinking (obv biased here ) that leases wouldn't be impacted since those don't tax the whole value of the vehicle to begin with... but intuitively, it really should or else what's the point of even introducing this. In that case leases would be horrible as you are stuck with a tax bill on a portion of vehicle you are not even paying for!

but who knows given how vague the actual budget language is, prob intentionally so given it needs to be passed (i.e. gotta ask NDP what they need to vote for it), and I've found only one source saying this is on top of HST with some friends thinking it'd be a marginal tax system. The automaker lobby is already complaining, wait til likes of Magna and Linamar also joins in as they are major parts suppliers and have Canadian jobs on payrolls.

and... is this a tax on the MSRP sticker or the negotiated selling price. To prevent dealer abuse I'd think it's the former, in which case can see options like carbon buckets on the G8X become rather rare in Canada as ppl try to keep spec under the threshold. Overall, beyond hurting autos industry, I don't see what doing this actually achieves ...

Not sure if it's true but just got a call from my SA that 2022 MSRP will increase by $2k, plus missing 1 year of warranty and with potential luxury tax... if we compare current base model at around 95k vs upcoming xDrive at around 105k+ (both with same specs premium pack cf seats), now might actually be the best time to get a base with 10k savings

yea not shocked since bmw canada jacked up the price on the SUVs during middle of a model year by significant amount too.... so don't be shocked if substantial increase. I find the the current pricing to be fairly "reasonable" if you can ever call a 100k car that I

current base price is around 85k .. +4k for comp models... +5k ish for awd thats coming up + ? k for yoy price jacking

some more information trickling out regarding the luxury tax.. looks like leases are included unfortunately

https://www.fasken.com/en/knowledge/...-budget-canada

Quote:
Upon purchase or lease, the seller or lessor would be responsible for remitting the full amount of the federal tax owing, regardless of whether the good was purchased outright, financed, or leased over a period of time.
now the next question is.. does the leasee pay the entire amount or does the leasing company be so generous and pro-rate between the lease holder's tax bill and whoever that buys the car afterwards..

New member here. 2020 M340i owner. Have the MY 2022 M3C Xdrive on my radar with a deposit placed at my dealership. Just waiting on pricing release. My SA thought pricing would be available in May....but sounds like some are hearing July or August...which seems kind of late...but who knows?

US pricing is already out... imagine BMW Canada will follow asap as well. 4-5k upcharge for AWD sounds like the ballpark

I'm going crazy waiting for the M3C xDrive order sheets to come out. Should be any day now, the car is in the online configurator in a few European countries, and order sheets are out in the US.
