It now looks like BMW has taking it in the opposite direction by an uncompromising focus on performance not caring if that makes the car less visually attractive (the front is arguably less aesthetic than the G22 and the aggressive aero with the wide side skirts will be seen as juvenile by some) and less practical with the protruding low splitters being prone to scraping. The leaked thin seats with huge side supports and strategic cut-outs adds to the puzzle pieces. Then there are the ring videos always with comments as very planted and very fast.

It looks like the target might not be a practical GT car but a Nurnburgring dragon slayer...
Lol no.

This abominable exercise in design is not necessitated due to function.

Look at literally every other high performance car released this year or or last. They don't need gargantuan gaping orifices in the front end for function. See: Porsche, AMG, GM, Chevrolet, Ford, Ferrari, etc etc.

They might need it after the G8X is released
I think it’s more of a want than need though. They want to make this car to be as fast they can, more than they want to make it as pretty as possible. M for Motorsport striking back.

Kia has the “tiger nose” grill.

The new M4 will incorporate BMW’s “koala nose” grill design.

IND has a HUGE opportunity here for color painted grill replacements to make it look like a normal front bumper. Also, why no hood power dome? Way too similar to the 440.

Guys.......negative comments means that they made it, again.

Look at the sales numbers of the 7 series preLCI and LCI. With the new "ugly" grill sells more than twice.

They made it, it's strange...I agree with you all, but we cannot say that it isn't personal and distuinguishing.

To me, the M is far away much better than the normal & Msport version, twhich I find really depressing, but the M makes sense. Not sure about mounting this front end on the M3 but...it could make a really strange, but cool mix to meet on the road.

Actually.... this could work. It's bold, different and thus not everyones cup of Tea but that thing looks menacing.

Waiting for better Pictures / looking at it in Flesh for final judgement but i'm excited.

Any chance you could do a red and purple version?

The plus is that it looks way better than the M440 but on the other hand it would be extremely difficult to design something uglier.

someone sure leaked.

Lets consider our options. Will this car come with a really good stereo like a B&M?

Is this the base M4?
Will the comp and CS have more drastic aero which can save the design?

Am I too young to go to M5 CS???

Other immediate options - Alfa QF
F80 CS?
F82 DTM?

Just say screw it and join Rennlist- buy 911 GT3 add Ohlins TTX, enjoy great sound of exhaust and not care about big BBQ salt lick grills.

Will wife allow? you ask, well actually I do not need permission.

So the M4 will have a bigger grille than the M440i, that’s another kick in the nuts. Dukec really has gone to town to polarise, and it may become the new BMW norm, but it still looks a mess to me.

Read a review of the RS5 recently, the reviewers advice with an eye on BMW’s G82 design and future C63 Mercedes 4 cylinder hybrid? Go and buy an M4 Comp or V8 C63s!

This is the first time a car has disgusted me so much that I lose my appetite completely for upgrading to something new when I see it. I knew this was going to be a fail, and have been focusing on moving into an 992 911, but seeing this leaked is like seeing something disgusting before a meal and you just no longer are hungry for anything. It just makes me not even care about cars anymore, and makes me feel as though I should just get back into my F80 and drive as far away from this as possible.

The design is so lost, confusing, and incomplete. It is as if some JDM fan ran out of money and has two different sets of rims and only half of the panels painted on his car.

I'm surprised to say that I like it! The earlier leaks made me think there would be no way I would, but seeing the whole thing I actually do. The smooth, 8-esque side vents look good against the coarse grille. Wouldn't call it a beautiful car, but it does look bold and cool.

That said, it's a very polarising design, and I'm sensing there will be a lot of whole-front bodykits for this car.

The good news is that the car will be given away at cost due to its ugly front.

I love how the design turned out. It looks dynamic and way more cleaned up than the current M4. I think it's great how they were able to integrate this design feature from the E92 and F80.

Straight up borrowed the template from a Lexus LFLC

The 2 small side vents plus a huge ass one in the middle both angling down towards the sides. All they did was split it in 2 and made the bottom part all awkward.
