Also, I dynoed my M3 and just from doing high flow cats I picked up an extra 20 whp which I was really surprised about. My M3 finally sounds like a true German performance car!
upgrading the downpipes makes a huge difference.
Is it too loud with aftermarket full cat back exhaust paired with a 200 cell?

I wouldn't say its too loud but sound is subjective and everyone has different taste. I like very loud so this was perfect for me and I have a valved system so when I close my valves its perfect for everyday cruising. With valves opened in sport mode its pretty rowdy hahaha. This is essentially the set up I did on my car. Couldn't be happier with it and had no issues installing everything.

It depends on the person; my only concern is the cold start.

It'll sound perfect after

I currently have a single midpipe but was thinking about ordering a valve controller however I keep hearing many are having a problem with them. How much of a difference does the valve controller make with a single midpipe?

I don't have a single mid-pipe (currently stock) but have had the VSC valve controller for almost a year now and no issues whatsoever. Noticeable difference in sound, too, as even in sport+ (without the vale controller) the valves still close throughout the rev range.

For me it's mandatory. For the best sound the s58+single mid can make you need it.

Efficient mode~valves open~s3~40-60% throttle~shift at 5k

Can someone explain paying $1500-2000 for a midpipe vs just having 3" piping welded for $200-400 bux? I am confused at what the difference is.

I think you're replying off a different premise. I am asking on our vendors sites I see pipes for under $300 and then $1500ish+

I guess these replace different things, that is what I am confused about. Can you explain the difference?

You guys seen this? Pretty cool y'all are getting this option - been harping since the beginning that G8X is NOT equal length from factory. Could do with a resonator on this specific car.

Ooooh, I though you were saying "why not go to a muffler shop and get it done for 300-400"

Those 300$ straight sections are if you did in fact want to DIY.

The 1500$ pipes are a finished product.

Yah - I've seen that dude has a very rauckus catless F80 with EL. I'm on the other end of the spectrum with OE cats and a resonated EL setup, sounds silky smooth.

I will say on a separate note, it seems like G80 will have the same raspiness issue as F80 with using aftermarket DPs. Anyone thinking of running non-OE cats / DPs will likely need resonators.

I think DPs with single midpipe and stock rear sounds pretty good. The single midpipe smooths out the raspiness.

Yah same thing on F80, you need a massive pipe to smooth out the catless tone in lieu of extra resonators. EL you definitely need resonators at a minimum.

Installation video and sound clip will be posted soon

I think you are correct. It's probably a better option on high-flow downpipes. If it's too quiet on my car, I will switch back to the X-pipe straight I currently have.

I try as many setups as possible on my car, so when customers are asking for my feedback, they can trust I know what im talking about
