Rumor: BMW 4 Series Unlikely to Get a New Generation (including M4)

Glad I bought mine if this ends up being true...

I’d bet at most they end up calling it something else but a “spiritual successor” will be around for sure. Shmedium sports coupe is as BMW as it gets.

Have not checked the global numbers but I believe in the USA the 4 series outsells the 3 series. Why would they do this?

Numbers would be deceiving, the 4 series has many more models if you include electric.

Regardless, I agree. Odd decision.

Maybe they will recombine the 4 series back into the 3 series, and offer the 3 series as both a coupe and a sedan, like they did back in the old days?

The coupes will die first. Everyone is killing them off.

Agree. Wouldn’t surprise me to see them do a 3 series sedan/coupe/convertable like before.

I take all of these rumors with a grain of salt, until I see a release directly from BMW.

The “will they, won’t they” of speculation is exhausting after a while. Too much hype for a pipe dream that’s years away from happening, if happening at all.

It’s the same with speculation around the successor to the S58. One minute, it’s all electric. The next, it’s going to be another ICE. Now, it’s a hybrid. I’m no Nostradamus, but odds are it’s probably one of those…

In the meantime, I’m going to appreciate the awesomeness of what we G8X owners already have in the garage and cross “the next generation bridge” when we actually get there.

It's part of the car enthusiast curse...always looking towards the next car. It's certainly been causing me a lot of silly thoughts lately despite how much I love driving the car I already have.
