HMM. You might want to call BMW NA. Conflicting reports on the web. Some customers state the "In service date" is when the car was first serviced. This happens when the dealership takes delivery from BMW and performs the first service, ie. transport mode". Another report says the dealer will mark the car as "demo" to collect factory incentives.

But it could be the dealers normal process or they wanted to book the sale in June/Q2/H1. Doubt it can be changed and not sure why a week matters, but I guess you can ask the dealership. |

What’s the end goal here? Did the dealer treat you fairly? Are you bringing your car there for service? How does this affect you? Who exactly is getting harmed? None of this makes any sense to me but most of the virtue signaling/social stuff going on these days doesn’t either so maybe it’s just me.

How do u even know what that information your “buddy” is getting is accurate.
As other have said car is not urs until u pay for it so they can do what they want. They can sell it to another customer. I don’t think u are intitled to anything here. |

How do I know, I called BMW NA directly.
Its the principle, the in service date is when the warranty starts, how did my warranty already start when I didn't take delivery of the car yet? And yes I paid for this car in full cash, I had my bank send the remainder difference. However the check didn't get there till this past Monday. |

If the warranty did start before delivery then I would have a conversation with the GM and take it from there. I prefer to also give them a chance to make it right before going all out

Wait until you get the car to worry about it. Then have them run the report of when the ISD is in the system. If it doesn't match the date of your handover ask them to change it. If your sales guy is unresponsive, go to the GM. If the GM tells you to pound, contact BMWNA. Show them the date you signed the sales contract and your ISD and tell them to change it.
I mean, I get it, it's the principle. But at the end of the day I wouldn't get my knickers in that big of a twist over it. Certainly I woudn't darken their door with any future business though if this is the way they are going to treat you. |

I know this because i was a Tech at a dealership for a while and we did the PDI and In Service dates for the cars. Once you Own it and again the dealership does not have Financial responsibility meaning its a customer owned car you get that date

You ordered a car. Apparently you previously placed a deposit. The dealer considers the car sold - to you. The car arrives. The dealer processes the car (PDI and all the paperwork) in preparation for you picking up the car. You actually pay for the car ahead of completing/signing the various docs and physically picking up the car. All of this is happening within a week or so. Sounds pretty routine. |
