I would definitely buy it, but I can also have the opinion that the E46-F80 generations were better looking and be critical of the design decisions. I will add the disclaimer: I do not need a (newer car) to be beautiful for me to buy and enjoy, it has to drive well, have 4-doors and have a 6MT. I daily drove a Focus RS for a year and it is not an amazing looking car, but it was a blast to drive. |

As you can see I'm an F30 owner so I love the F80 but when I went to the dealership to upgrade to an F80 competition ~3 years ago I changed my mind as I did not want to drive "the same car". I've owned several M's in the past so I know all the differences, but I was looking for something different. I went to Audi and checked out the RS5 sportback but it felt slower than my ~400whp bolt-on F30 to be honest except for launching it. So I decided I'd wait for the G80 to get the new design, AWD & stay with BMW I'm still not 100% convinced that I love the new front, but I think that the G20 front is VERY boring too. So I'm looking forward to see the G80 in person

Still looks pretty bad. And no power dome is a massive disappointment. After market mods are gonna make a killing on this model.

Awful and ugly looking. Epic fail and a bit overpriced. The M4 is especially useless when you can stretch for a 911.
I'll admit the M3 could make a good grocery getter with the four doors. Probably a better option than an SUV. |

I believe around a year or so ago that it became fashionable to hate the new grilles. Many jumped on that bandwagon.

This is such a shame..I see people saying they love the car but will change the bumper or hoping an aftermarket company will fix it.
In my world...a brand new car should look good from the show room! This thing is wrong looking! but who knows...maybe in person it's different, maybe my mind will change but I miss the traditional BMW styling. |

The only part I’m not sure I like is the lower black painted area. I recall someone mentioned it after seeing the car at a showing. It looks good on the IOM M3 but not great on the SPY M4.
Will be interesting to see if it’s optional or standard on the competition model. |

Me on seeing the E46:
Me on seeing the G8x: At least they kept the manual, the seats look great (need to see different colors) and I'm sure the performance will be bonkers.

I’m slow and just noticed that the blue seats in the car match the blue seats in the stands, cute

I prefer older designs and dimensions, not sure why, but older cars look great to me in comparison to newer cars. In 2021 there are not many cars that I would have to have based on looks. The E90 M3 sedan is one of my favorites, it looks amazing, but I have other older cars and I want a new car to put lot of miles on and drive every day. In the immediate timeline, there is nothing like the G80 M3 6MT. That reality will present itself to many of the loudest dissenters. |
