Why does it matter if BMW is watching? If you tune the car, your Warranty is fucked anyway. It's the issue of being able to break the ECU. Someone will figure it out. Hopefully sooner than later

The M3 is one of the most tuned German cars ever. Too much $$ is riding on someone figuring it out I'm sure it will happen. Better be soon so I can get add a Nissan GTR to my kill list 😈

Hopefully you won’t run into a BUILT one, or one with turbo upgrades for that matter.

On E-85 Kill map, right around 950 Tq. I'm happy right there. I don't want a 1500 HP laggy car. Plus, shit seems to break when you start going in the higher numbers. My car has been rock solid, knock on wood. Sean Ivey is a bad MF. LOL.

the “manual-gear-box-rear-wheel-drive-light-weight-road-course” hypocritical enthusiasts are seemingly everywhere these days. Why would you even consider buying a four door BMW street car for road course use is beyond my comprehension. Why don’t you just buy a cheap Miata and rebuild to a race car? Or get a GT4? Or buy a GT3, if you can afford one?

Another example of what BMW can achieve with these big girls. It makes me even more impatient to see what the G8X can do...
https://www.bmwblog.com/2020/12/20/v...n-991-911-gt3/ It also adds to the mystery why the G8X isn’t given to proper journalists |

Maybe some of us enthusiasts have adhered to the original design intent of the M3 as a dual use car: a practical daily driver than can serve the track hobby. It is that concept that got me into my first E46 M3 in 2001 and why I kept coming back. I love having one car that does it all.

However, beating the M5competition by whopping 1.5 seconds, the M5cs did fair much better in this test than in the AM&S one. The M5 is definitely a fast machine.

After the G80 I'm thinking I'll be able to own a street legal track car (ex. exocet) and a sporty daily sedan. As my kids grow up I'm hoping I'll have more time to maintain a track car and enjoy a new hobby.

Stupid and irresponsible - It’s the driver that needs a mod/prep for this one, not the car, usually. If you drive like a hooligan on track (regardless of how much your car is prepped or not), you’ll be warned and then kicked out. Everyone takes safety very seriously.

I've been tracking my ///Ms for 20 years now at the rate of 16~25 days per season. The M3/4 have come fairly track ready out of the box, only needing proper track pads, r-comp tires and camber plates (the latter two mainly to reduce cost of consumables). I've been taking cars to the track for over 30 years now. The first decade racing (yes, as in competitively) modified track prepped cars, but still street legal. I'd come tired of the cost and unreliability of modded cars. Now having other life responsibilities, I no longer have the time nor the patience for that. I really love the reliability and peace of mind that comes with a fully warrantied track car. Plus I get to enjoy it everyday on my daily drive

As I said, M3/4 need very little "track prepping". A newbe can definitely take a completely stock M3/4 to the track a get along fine. I'd say brake pads is the only real must after that.
