Just picked up the m3, a few questions!

Hey guys! Just have a few quick questions, thanks!

Which adapter works best with bimmercode... I lost mine and forget which one it was.

Can you code the auto stop feature off, or a setting?

Can you keep the exhaust valves open all the time or do I still have to pull the fuse?

Any optimal equalizer settings for the sound system?

Are there any limiters until my break in service?

If you guys got the wheel and tire protection, what did you pay?

Thanks so much!

Congrats. You can set auto stop/start using the M buttons.
There is a limiter, I think at 5K until after breakin service IIRC.
I personally do not think tire/wheel protection is worth it, but that is just me.
Enjoy

I can answer a few of these.

Break in: 5,500 RPM, and 106MPH

Auto Start/ Stop:
I don't know where the hell Sunshine is, so, I'm not sure what country you are in. My Genius set everything up when I took delivery. Auto/ Stop Start, was turned off, by my Genius Expert. This isn't an option in some countries.

Im on car 31. About 27 of those cars, have been brand new. On the 2 cars I have now, I selected the wheel and tire packages. I've never needed them, or used them, but about 3 months after I got my first car, that I have now, I hit a curb with the wheel, it was replaced by the dealer, no questions asked. About 8 months later. I got it for my M4, because I used it on my other car. Fast forward, 10 months, both front wheels, have hits, about 3 inches on them front grinding the curb a little. damn wheel spacers.

EQ Settings:

Limiter? What?! Why would you respond if you have no clue what you're talking about?

Best method on this car is to actually wire the valve open physically. It's easy with a metal zip tie - did this while I was waiting for my vsc2 to come in.

(this car never opens the valve fully, so pulling the fuse will never actually lock it 100% open)

Auto stop/start remembers its last setting on my car (BMW has gone back and forth on this over the years and models), so it's never on. It is also a setting you can choose for your M buttons.

There aren't any actual "during break-in" limiters, but the manual does suggest keeping it below 5500 RPM's (or some such) and 100-ish MPH, along with varying your RPM's as much as possible during the break-in period. The value of following the break-in rules is debated in 90 million threads all over this board.

I bought wheel/tire protection once, on my first new BMW years ago, and never used it. I could buy about 15 wheels for what it would have cost on all my (and my partner's) cars. Insurance products make money because they cost more than they pay out overall. Some individuals do get their money's worth, though.

The video pasted above is a good start on EQ settings, but your personal music tastes dictate what you might need out of a flawed car system (pretty much all car systems are flawed...cars are terrible music rooms). Don't be afraid of giving your rear speakers a bit more power, it can even out the sound stage in our compromised environments a bit and reduce the effect of the silly center speaker.

Bimmercode actually works best with an ENet cable and a RJ-45 adapter for your device (phone or laptop). Otherwise, there's a good adapter list on their site:
https://bimmercode.app/adapters/

Also - congrats on your car!

Congrats!

For Bimmercode get an ENET cable and an Ethernet cable adapter for your phone. So much quicker than using a BT adapter. Here is the ENET cable I have:

OHP ENET OBD Cable for BMW ICOM E-SYS ISTA | Bootmod3 Bimmercode OBD2 | Coding F-Series | 5 Feet https://a.co/d/5DpJKyj

You can code ASS off, however, the car remembers the last setting so there isn't really a need for this.

You can only keep the exhausts valves open at all times by either buying a valve controller from VSC2, Dahler, and a few others, or you can wire it so the valves stays open all the time. There are some threads on this in the exhaust section of the forums.

Limegrntaln posted a good video for the equalizer settings.

Read the manual for the break-in recommendations as there are recommendations for various parts of the car, i.e. tires, trans, engine, etc. However, there are no true limits set upon it from the factor. You can go out and perform launch control right now if you'd like.

I didn't get the wheel and tire protection this time around. I've gotten them in the past and it only came in handy once over the year.

I'll chime in and say the same, get an ENET cable and an Ethernet cable adapter for your phone. It's a LOT faster than any Bluetooth adapter.
These are the ones I have (iPhone):

There isn't any limiter. Recommendation is to keep it below 5500 RPM.

Dude, no. Just stop. The yellow bars are based on engine temperature.

I could swear they were around 5K when I was during break in regardless of temp. But what does it matter anyway if I am wrong. If my memory is failing me, it is not the worst inaccuracy on this board. Go bully someone else bud.

I'm not bullying you. You don't know what you're talking about and spreading misinformation. There's a huge difference.

Dude I literally said my memory may be failing me, and you corrected me. My memories are not misinfor.ation, take them as is. You do not get to tell me or anyone else to stop or shut up. Now can we move, this is rediculously petty.

Never said shut up. That would be called stretching the truth to fit your narrative that I'm bullying you. Everything you posted in this thread has been flat out wrong. I'm not sure how else I could have approached telling you so that would have been better.

I would recommend to enjoy the package, finish the break-in period and then start figuring all that out. Except maybe the EQ, the sound is sort of weak!

Congrats, it's a hell of a ride!
