I got a thumbs up from an Audi wagon owner a few days ago, this is a big complement for me. I have one, so knew all of the mods he had on his car and gave him a big thumbs up. If you know you know. I don't give a sh*t what nonenthusiasts think, and like others don't really talk to work mates about it unless I know they are car enthusiasts

I gave up caring what work or anyone thinks. I'm pushing 40 been married for 15 years. Me and the wife never went on crazy vacations and saved money / worked hard. Didn't buy lavish things. Our only real vices were cars. Heck we met that way. Now we are financially more secure than most and can easily provide for our young kids. I get comments from time to time about the m3 but at this point it's not my fault people choose to screw off with their money while I saved and skipped the multiple vacations a year.

It depends. I usually work in an office with about 20 co-workers. We got 13 BMW and 2 Porsche. So no one cares what BMW you drive.

I work at a place where everyone caps out, in base pay, about their 6 year mark. It's a big place, so we have about 2,500 employees, and about 800 of them, do my job. Everyone makes over $130k and you can double that with the endless amounts of overtime, we have, available, on a daily basis. We have about 200 doctors, but their most expensive cars, are 4 Runners, and Tundras.

I've been there for 9 years, but, Im also mil retired, and 80% service connected, so, that's like another $3k a month, tax free. I've had 8 cars, since I've worked there, and now, that I think about it, I easily have the priciest car in the parking lot, at over $116k with tax and tags. The closest thing to me, is a C8, and a 2013 Porsche Panamera. I also have a 21 Accord Touring, that's my commuter.

I drive my M4 to work, at least once a week. But, most of us, have at least, 2 cars, some have 3 or more, or they have boats. A cheap house, close enough to work, is about $700k, for a 1960s 1,200sq, and a 3,000sq newer, is $1.3-$1.7 or more. So, most of us, are on a level playing field. The ages range from 21 all the way to late 60s. The older guys make about another grand a month, base pay for seniority pay, but if you want to be a baller, you just work overtime, and you can do most of whatever you want.

There are some S2000s, Type Rs, and lots of Hellcats, and Camaros ZL1s. Lots of 5 series Mercedes Benzs

Here I am with my old F80 Avatar picture captured by one of my coworkers appreciating the beauty of it in front of my workplace. They loved the car and are excited to see my G80, but I haven't been to office yet post covid.

Same here!! Whenever anyone compliments me on my G83 I say thanks and I wish it was paid for!! Just to remind them I’m working my butt off for this car.

I actually love my job/company. But, ya, I do have to keep a low profile. The same employee made a big deal out of a Supreme North Face jacket I wore to work once (very low-key jacket with a small Supreme logo, BTW,...not obnoxious like some of their stuff). It was a touch embarrassing so I never wore it to work again. Again, maybe its in my head or maybe it is just her....yet everyone jumped on the comment bandwagon after her "Mr. BMW" comment. I think it was my boss sharing this sentiment that really irked me. I mean, she makes waaaay more than I do.
So, your company tolerates bullying? Only half kidding.

We all spend our disposable income in the way we choose. For many people on this board, I imagine some of us spend a higher than average percentage of disposable income on our cars. I've had this discussion with co-workers and friends in the past. Maybe they spend theirs on a country club, or travel, or something else. More of my disposable income goes to having fun with cars. To each his own.

Report your boss to HR. You could file a dissemination lawsuit based on the things they're saying IE Toxic Workplace environment.

Power has shifted to the 'workers' now so you have a lot of options here

Yeah, that lawsuit @Tyga11 suggests would go nowhere and would end up causing you to be viewed as even more of an outsider to this handful of co-workers insecure enough in their own skin to take pot shots at others and would probably add a few more to the mix who would see your escalation of a few comments into a bigger deal. "Mr. BMW" would now become "Mr. Big Baby I'm Gonna Sue You For Talking About My BMW".

Let it go and choose to invest your time and energies into positive thoughts and coworkers who don't feel the need to comment and judge. The measure of a man (or woman) is not in the cars they drive, the clothes they wear but in their actions. Be bigger than those folks. Don't give them the satisfaction knowing their jabs landed and they'll stop throwing them….watch.

I would rent a Lambo for the day and park it in my bosses spot. Then tell him this is my weekend toy. My BMW is in the shop.

You should try telling someone that you own a Range Rover…the next sentence is "Don't you have to own two so you have something to drive while the other one is in the shop?". My response is "I do". Oh and for all of you who think they are not dependable I can tell you for every story you have ever heard about one being a lemon I can tell you one that has gone well past 100k with only recommended maintenance performed.

Having owned multiple BMW's I learned the hard way that once you hit 100k it was time to say goodbye and get another one.

I have family members like this.
I have i4 m50 arriving and m3 on order.

I know the first thing they gonna do is look up the price. And they ain't gonna say anything bad. They gonna say WOW, Omgggg, hype it up a bit. They do this for every purchase I make. Anything that remotely looks fancy they start googling the price. Which is annoying. Kinda feel embarrassed

Maybe it's an internal thing I have, grew up poor and do feel guilty when I buy things. And personally I don't like consumerism but we all have our vices.

The only time I ever feel embarrassed about purchasing a big ticket item is if I overpaid for it....

I like to keep them guessing and confused. No one asks about the $ we spend on 2 Ms because our vacation budget dwarfs our car budget, it's not even close, so my friends and colleagues just gave up.

Yesterday at work (I'm in the beauty industry around all women, none of who know anything about cars) my friend asked when my new m3 was coming and I said by the end of the week. Car payments came up and she said wow, I bet you're not looking forward to another payment. I told her I'd be paying off the remainder after trade in, and she was shocked, then asked what the car cost. When I told her 90k, she about died. Granted my coworkers know I'm a car person, but sometimes I feel like an elitist when I'm talking about them, or driving up in a new one. But they know how how I work and they respect it in a sense
