If you track it, get the carbon buckets. The regular seats are fine on the track but the carbon buckets hug you far tighter.

I went with regular seats. I never think about the carbon buckets because I needed ease of getting in and out - honestly in an M4, it's difficult to get in and out if you have a car next to you (and that's my garage at home). It'd be a daily pain with the carbon buckets. It may be less of an issue with the shorter doors in the M3.

I've test driven with carbon buckets - love love love cornering in them. Getting in and out was super awkward (for me). And that car didn't even have the M Performance sideskirts like I have which I have to be careful not to clean with my jeans every time I get out.

Oh fudge, I didn't even think of the clearance needed when getting out as I park in a tight 2 car garage with the GF. Maybe it is better after all that I stick with the regular sport seats

Get the buckets. Let her out in driveway/before you pull in to the garage.

Don't think anymore. Just get the buckets. You're welcome. 🚀

Can't believe so many of you are concerned with what your wife likes or dislikes about your car.

My wife had absolutely no say in what options I selected on prior M cars and never will. If she finds the buckets uncomfortable, tough shit. It's my car and things are done my way. She treats her car the same way.

And yes, we're happily married

Buckets for me in the G82. I think they would be more challenging in the G80 with getting in and out. 6'2" and 190 and I love them. I've done 4+ hour drives and no issues. Wife is tiny so she loves them and how they wrap esp when we are on more spirited drives. She had no say in the order either, gets out before I park in the garage and has no issues with the procedures.

Tested both normal and bucket seats before getting my G80. Normal was nice but the decision to go with buckets was the best decision I ever made (regarding cars). Go with the buckets, you will never regret them. It might be a bit of a hassle to get in and out but they hold you in like a glove. It just feels so right. However, do not get them if you are a big boi.

In terms of long distance drive, I took delivery of my G80 in Charlotte, NC and drove it home to ATL. It took about 5 hours of driving, with a stop, and the seats were comfortable to me. Even more comfortable than the drive to Charlotte in my Supra seats.

Either way, go with the buckets if you can fit.

Pro tip: take all the seats out and stand while driving. Better for your back.

This may not work for everyone, but here in Socal we have lots of vehicles available to us.
You lost me at "wife's approval"…

So here goes:

Wrote my CA this morning asking to change to the CF seats and she writes back says no can do because the order is locked as of July 20, but BMW hasn’t started building. However she can’t provide me a production # nor Vin #

I called her BS bc when I spoke with Genius this AM they said that if you don’t have an individual color or option (which I don’t) then you can 100% change it still

If there is really no production number then you don't even have an allocation let alone a locked build.

No production number means you don't even have an allocation assigned to you which even further means you are just a name on a wait list.

Change was made to Black CF Buckets!!!! (From Tartufo full)

Net price increase of only $300 to get them

I lost executive pack and full leather in the process per BMW when making the switch. No clue as to why but I’m not complaining I guess since the cost stayed about the same
