Stalled my manual for the first time (trying to creep forward into garage). Son bitch restarted itself on its own... Not sure how I feel about that. Certainly wasn't expecting it.

I wonder if it would do that in "track" M mode? That would be…. Unwanted.

I was able too? You mean the G force, torque, boost, and HP thing right?

Is there not a dedicated AC button on the dash button array? (I don't have my car yet, my M550 has it and years ago I thought my 335 had this)

Get out on a frozen lake. There was an event last weekend I attended where they plowed a road course on a lake and it was a ton of fun at 30 MPH. Crazy how much angle the car can have on ice and still be recoverable.

Also not sure where I've read it but I've been using the digital key on my phone wrong. Apparently, with the iPhone, if you hit the power button twice while holding your phone against the door handle, it'll unlock.

I've been holding the phone next to the door handle for 20-30 seconds waiting for it to unlock like an idiot all this time.

LOL!

I thought it wanted the backside of the iPhone near the handle to open and lock buy touching the finger sensor. Thanks for the tip!

It's nearly impossible to stall it. I've had my manual G80 since November 19 and I haven't managed (lol) to stall it once yet.

I'm able to hold my iPhone against the door handle (without any other action), and it'll lock or unlock. It's just a bit location-sensitive (rest the center of the iPhone over the center of the door handle).

If you're not going to get a 'cold air intake', this is one of the next best things for your intake.

I bet it even provides a few extra ponies, but since there is no profit involved, you won't see any test done of before and after, IMO.

Uh, that is a big negative. Don't know what you're referring to.

I did not notice any breathing issues for anyone every time I've done it to my cars that come with this silly carbon filter(s). No more or less noticeable fumes when running or after running inside my garage.

It makes a very small change in the intake tone. Its a 2nd small filter on the lid of the intake box. We already have a normal filter in there, so some of us remove the charcoal one for added sound.

Good to know you didn't notice any difference, but (theoretically at least) the carbon filters are supposed to filter particulate matter from the air. It doesn't necessarily stop odors, but if you're stuck behind a gravel truck that belching out thick clouds of diesel and gravel dust, then it should reduce those kinds of pollutants.

(I don't doubt that removing these filters allows for better engine breathing, but my general skepticism about K&N filters and the like is: If it were so easy and cheap to add 10 horsepower, why wouldn't the manufacturer do this?)

Ah, I didn't realize there's a two-phase filter process. Yeah, that seems very German.

Discovered this playing with the iDrive settings today:

If you miss the compass that used to be in the rear view mirror, you can add it to the iDrive home screen by adding the route preview widget. This is totally non-intuitive since the position widget has a compass icon on it, but it doesn't actually show a compass, but instead your GPS coordinates and some other numerical data that I can't recall. The route preview actually has a compass when route guidance is not active. Since I never use the iDrive Nav, then this basically puts a permanent compass on your iDrive screen.

Also: If you find cycling through the BC read-outs on the right screen of your instrument cluster too time consuming, just hit the M Mode button. It will remember the last BC read-out you had set there. So you can jump between two of your most used BS read-outs easily by switching M Modes

1) Quick old tip. On the coupes I think it's called comfort access or comfort opening.

If in a tight space, press unlock twice. When you open with door handle the window drops to half way down.

Get in and close the door and window back back up. Neat.

2) Just for me this and quite cool as BMW U.K. have dropped the garage door opener option age ago. Out private gates have a mobile access and if your mobile no. is in the system it will open if you dial the gates from tour registered mobile. This via the magic 1-8 buttons I have a 1 button press to open them. (Yes audio gets interrupted as it's a phone call).

You don't need to double tap power. All you need to do is hold the front of the phone to the door handle.
