2 tips from me with BMW phone app:

- You cannot change driving profile photo in the car other than those default pictures. But you can do it on BMW app and it will sync to the car the next driving.

- I can remote start engine from phone anywhere and without the need of locking the car first (the manual says car / all doors must be locked). So basically i can lend the car to a mate without giving him the key.

Not sure why it would be different but here in the UK we dont have to press the start button first. We just press M1 or M2 and the car starts with that setting. No need to hit start at all.

You can program the 1-8 buttons to pretty much anything as a shortcut. Phone #’s, locations, menu short cuts etc. Also the buttons are touch sensitive so if you forget what you saved to a number just touch the button and. It will show you the shortcut on the screen. Then press it to access whatever you programmed.

I discovered that it's a lot harder to break traction and drift my favorite corners than it was with my F82 and F87.

The amount of mechanical grip is out of this world, even on winter tires.

Whilst sat in stationary traffic with the engine auto-stopped (start/stop function enabled). As soon as the car infront moves, the engine starts up without me engaging the accelerator which I thought I was so cool. The car knows I had to get moving again.

My experience of stop/start in other cars is that the engine starts up again, only when I either engage the clutch or hit the accelerator.

I thought it was a fluke so tried it again in stationary traffic and yes once the car infront moves the engine starts by itself knowing I need to move too.

Clever stuff!

The cameras are watching. The moment the car in front moves, your car knows that you should be moving next, so it fires up the engine. Helps when daydreaming too!

Ive programmed one of my buttons to 'Sync' the heating controls so that I can adjust the temperature for both driver and passenger at the sametime instead of adjusting both separately. Once enabled the passenger side is set to the same as the driver side temp and both can be adjusted by by tapping the driverside temp controls.

I was surprised that there wasnt a dedicated 'sync' button on the dash like many cars however the fact that it can be done anyway and save clogging up the cabin with more buttons is fine by me.

Removing the carbon filters from your airbox is probably the easiest and cheapest modification you can you to your G8x.

Do you not need to have a key/press start once inside? I get that this would turn on the car while unlocked, but could you then shift in to drive/use the car without the start button press once inside?

I loved this about my F82. I was able to set it so that when I hit the #2 preset the screen switched to displaying the sport gauges/displays.

Unfortunately, you aren't able to save the sport displays to the 1-8 presets on the G80... lame

Mine is saved?

Instead of actually clicking into the sport display save the button that would access them. Does that make sense?

I too thought it was weird there was no sync button. At least it’s in the menus though. Good advice to add it to those buttons

Greatly appreciated, will try!

To be honest, I mostly just commuted since I got the car. Haven't really played with the traction control since.

So the M4 Comp I have on order will be my very first BMW. It is very obvious I am not a BMW "purist". I marvel reading the many wonderful posts on these forums. So many of you are long time owners with multiple vehicles in your BMW history.

I think this current generation is one of the best looking cars on the road. Very much my taste. Any to be brutally honest, it feels extra rewarding to enjoy something that the "masses" don't

I swear I could not get this to work when I tried, it was a feature that threw an error, like could not map that button to the favorite. Did you have to do anything special?
