Forgive me if this thread already exists, I'm carrying this over from other forums. What cool or not-so-cool thing did you discover about your G8X today? It could be a feature you never knew about, some strange aspect of the car, some weird label you found on some random part in the engine bay, a new quirk that you like/don't like etc... anything!


I'll start:

I'll play. If you hit the Start/Stop button three times in diagnostic mode, you can open/close the valves with the VCS-2 controller without starting your engine.

If you wake the car up by pressing the start button without your foot on the brake (auto trans) you can pre select one of your M drive modes and then start the car up in sport plus if configured. Your neighbours will thank you for this 😊
You can programme the window to go down at a specific location, so I have my drivers window drop just as I reverse into the garage. It helps when getting out of the carbon buckets.
I have programmed the heated seats and steering wheel to auto start below 9 degrees C.

EDIT:

On the Gxx you can select without having to wake the car. Just press and start

Brother you ain’t kidding. Now try that with PSI midpipes and the car vibrates to the point where it could get a young lady excited. Doing this with midpipes goes way beyond annoying the neighbors. At this point I suspect you’re disturbing wildlife a mile away.

I saw a YouTube video about the automatic window, when I get my car I'm going to set it to drop as I approach my parkade entry where I have to use my access fob

I don't think so, the video I saw (What's your Forte) showed an "app" which I believe was specific to windows. Not quite sure, I don't have my car yet.

In my current M550 I've set my seat and steering wheel warmers to automatically engage at +4C, great little feature!

You can power off the gauge cluster/infotainment by holding down the mute button if you're sitting in your car while the engine is off or simply wait 10min for it to auto shutoff.

Holding down the mute button for 20 secs restarts the infotainment system. This was helpful when my android auto stopped working unexpectedly.

I was able to do that in my 2016 M3, but not in my 2018 M3 CS. Glad to know the neighbor hater feature is back!

I don't think you even have to press the start button. Mine allows it after waking up from just opening the door.

Not tried that on the Gxx. I know in my Fxx I had to trick it into that mode. Thanks though will try it tomorrow 👍

I found it quite confusing at first. The cars control system is fragmented. You have all the ID7 settings within the cars IOS and then if you go to installed Apps you have additional settings that are app based but are also integrated to id7.
