6MT
I don't have a way to measure this but it I'm starting to notice that the 1-2 shift takes more and more force.
I know someone on here had to have a transmission replaced for, iirc, difficulty getting into 1st. People with 6MTs how do you find the 1-2 shift and has it gotten more difficult over time?

Yes, but banging gears and a missed shift here and there probably doesn't help. I went from stock fluid to redline mt-85 and it seemed to help.

Just went for a city drive to try it out.
Seems totally fine going 1-2 and all other up shifts. Downshifts are all good as well, maybe 2-1 is a hair less smooth but not always. Every shift has this very slight resistance while going through the neutral position. Car is almost a year old. |

But I’m confident that my G82 manual feels a LOT better shifting than my F87 M2 LCI ever was. My most favourite manual BMW was an E90 335i |

14 months, about 5,700 miles, I don't think it's gotten harder. It's never been super easy and it takes a little more than 2-3, and so on, but it's been about the same the whole time.

No longer have a BMW MT. Last was a 135is & it was a light easy shift. Had a chance to drive a MT M4 & it felt a bit heavier.
My Cobra TKO-600 5MT shifts a lot like a old Muncie M22 4MT. They a pretty heavy require changing your hand position for the different shifts. This lets the transmission do some of the work. 1/2 Hand on top front of the ball straight pull. 2/3 Hand to the left rear of the ball & push. Downshift was the reverse of upshifting.

Anybody know what the take rate is for the 6MT?

In our house, the overall BMW 6MT take-rate is 50% (if you only count cars we currently own). For M Cars parked at our house, counting every car we've had here, it's also 50%.
Seriously, I don't think BMW has released any real numbers on G8x sales. |

vj123 conducted this poll here:
https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1911452 Showing take rate at 28% with 318 respondents so far. Obviously this is a tiny sample size, and is on an enthusiast forum where you'd expect the take rate to be higher. So if I had to guess, I'd say real world take rate is closer to 15%.

Both our BMW's are 8ZF. Last 6MT a 135is convertible was traded in against the M4C.
Still have two shift it yourself cars. TKO-600 5MT in the Cobra & a Ford 5MT in the Ranger 4X4 pickup. Was interested in the take rate due to a possible 6MT in the LCI Z4-M40i. Trying to figure out if the take rate is high enough to pay for the project.

Probably not long enough to make a difference, but the car actually has been feeling better on shifts. I've got about 5k miles on it now, and it feels like every thing has "settled" into place. Shifts are tactile but I could do it with a finger or two if I really wanted to. When I first had it, it did have some issues getting into first from a standstill. It would feel like first refused to go all the way in. One day I lost to the devil on my shoulder and clutched out when that happened to see if it would connect. No. It just bounced the shifter back to neutral and I felt like a moron for trying. But now at 5k, it hasn't had any issues.
P.S. The biggest problem of going into first or fifth is forgetting there's a big cup there and I punch it while shifting |

Can only speak on my 6spd M2C and I absolutely hated 1st to 2nd. Never been a fan of manual BMWs in all honestly. I would consider getting the Auto Solutions short shifting kit. Makes it feel a lot better.

Approaching 14k miles and have not had any issue with 1 -> 2 shift.
The only time I've ever had an issue with 1 -> 2 is if I get sloppy with the clutch under hard acceleration. If anything I think the trans has become smoother over time. I remember sometimes I could not even get the car into 1st from a dead stop.

I've missed 1-2 a couple of times on aggressive high rpm shifts, mostly driver fault though.
