Great video but missed the part when he was going to reprogram the ECU to move it out of break in mode. What is the power change?
They do not add any power
At my break-in service and asked UK M technician. He confirmed that in the UK at least there are no restrictions on power prior to run-in. He also said this may not be true in other countries but he didn't know.

No LC, no WOT pulls to the redline, etc. And you should be fine. I am taking it in at around 1,500 miles to allow for more opportunity for all the parts to break-in and to ensure that once the new fluids go in, they won't get any more metal shavings.
Absolutely don’t recommend waiting till 1,500 miles. I’ve heard stories of people who didn’t follow the break-in service and BMW flagged the vehicle in the system and later down the road when there was a mechanical issue with the motor they blamed the owner for not following break-in procedure. If you want to make sure to get “all the metal shavings” just schedule an oil change between break-in and the 10k mile service (assuming 10k will be the next scheduled service).

Definitely better early than late.

Yeah I've got it done at 1,130 miles. Not a fan though how precise it needs to be. BMW is putting a lot of hassle on the owner. If these engines were this sensitive to the break-in procedure then they should be breaking them in at the factory using an engine dyno before they drop the engine into the car.

It's a bit over the top but whatever, it's behind me now.

Following up on this, my dealer denied doing the break in service as early as I wanted (~1500km) and said they'd only do it around 2,000km.

100% was going also post this video.

So what is it? Where is the truth and if no one knows for a fact where can I find that?

I want to know:

1. What kind of fluid is used in the break in for the engine and for the diff and what is the viscosity.

2. What is the ECU "re-program"? after run in?

3. What is PDI mode and what does it do for Transport - pre and post run in.

If you don't know for a fact, don't speculate. I have watched many many videos and read many many documents all about this car. I have read on here 8 different things about break in. Can we get a sticky with the actual damn truth in it.?

I verified with the person in charge of the BMW warranty program at the dealership that there is a 500-mile leeway to get the break-in service completed by 1,700 miles. I asked the question when making a projected 825 trip on top of the nearly 500 miles I already had on my car. I was worried that I could run the risk of voiding my warranty and was assured I'd be OK. As it turned out, I took it in for the service with just under 1,300 miles.

Not to hijack the thread here but being in Italy, I'm just insanely skeptical of any work BMW has done to my car. When scheduling the break in service it was like 30 min conversation explaining to them what a break in service is. I think it was simply language barrier and my paranoia. To this day I'm still wondering if I'm still in transport mode engine wise etc lol. Just paranoid

I took mine in 600 miles late because they didn't have appointments for a month. It's fine. They change oil and differential fluid. No biggie but I'd take in late versus early

My dumb ass advisor said I was too early and that they can't do the break in service until 1200 miles.

I had 1188 miles. I almost punched the witch.

I went full Karen on her and asked to speak to her manager, who promptly said "Of course!"

Go drive another 12 miles- but that's silly. I wonder how well the new advisors are trained in these things.
