The G80 will depreciate a lot more, especially if optioned out. Even an optioned out 911 will depreciate badly. Leaving only the idiot who optioned out to the hilt, in "poverty". The main factor for me jumping ship is the fact that the M4 is too big for UK B roads, the looks are divisive, and the price point is close enough to the 911, that I would rather save for a year and buy a 911. |

A high optioned M3/4 is about the same price as a no option 911. When you start adding things like wheels, tires and doors to the 911 the price goes up exponentially.

Good luck with getting a new 911 in the UK
I wanted a Turbo S as a DD. Had Porsche for many years and my salesman doesn't even return my calls has he can't even order one from the factory! I have a 16 Targa 4s running 520bhp best handling car I have but it's not a Ferrari! Part Ex in April for M4 fully loaded £100k car hope I don't regret it. Did also have AMG GT 63s as daily but found it a bit big and couldn't use all the power in winter.

But, most of the people here are comparing G8X to 911, and the lowest priced (new or used) Carrera is $123K.

I just sold my used 21 G80 Competition with 3.8K miles for almost $10k more than it was worth new.

I looked at used caymans s’s for years and never found one for cheaper than like 72k lol even before the used car market went crazy. G8x is pretty ridiculous value considering it performs well and the interior is still quite nice…there’s really no trade offs.

I understand the topic of this thread centers around "price", but doesn't anyone buy what they really want and make price / value a secondary concern? So many topics bring in depreciation and "what it's worth in 3 years", it feels like some are already posturing to get out of a car that have not yet even received.
My M4 Comp will be the realization of a long time dream. I am buying, not leasing. I know it will drop substantially in the coming years. But if I can't afford that loss, I should not be buying it in the first place. I'm getting it to enjoy. If I can get a Porsche or a Blackwing or something else for the same $, who cares? I rather pick the one that most appeals to me, the one I most want to drive. |

I did consider a 718 GTS or GT4 and ended up ordering a new M3.
I loved the looks of the GT4 but not the liveability for daily driving and the GTS did not do it for me in the looks department. Also the gearing of the manual is not really that useable for street driving as you would mostly use 1st and 2nd and briefly 3rd for backroad blasting. Great cars of course but to me a bit flawed for my use case. When it comes to value for money, in my local market, a _slightly used_ 718 GTS 4.0 with very few options is about 5K USD less than I ended up paying for a brand new factory ordered M3 xdrive with a lot more options than the 718 GTS. In this market pretty good discounts can be had on M3s but not on Porsches. I would love a 992 C2S but that is easily 50k more than the M3 so I am not sure which Porsches people are actually comparing to the M3 when they complain it's to expensive. I would argue the G8X comp is actually pretty excellent value as it is very close to the 992 C2S in terms of track performance. |
