A lot of the pre-production cars mix up the CF trim parts to pimp the extra cost parts. There seldom appears to be rhyme or reason as to how they mix and match them.

I hated the latest 7 series until I was riding a bicycle through Germany and stumbled into some kind of photoshoot with about 8 new 7s and 2 pre-LCI 7s all parked together and immediately preferred the look of the LCI cars. I hated the X7 in pictures until I saw one parked at just the right angle and catching the light in an interesting way and now I think the X7 looks good in most configurations. |

I do take mild offense that you think you're so right and I'm so wrong I must be a total fanboy who would eat up anything BMW offers. I'm a 38 year old professional with a budget that could potentially far exceed the price of the G80 yet I'm going for the G80 for the 6MT, practicality/performance blend and...looks!

Was just starting to "get over," the monstrosity of a grille - but disappointed to see the front bumper looks busy and confused.
I do anticipate that the back end will look exceptional though with wider fenders and quad tips.

Beside everything i want to say, when i saw the hood at M track day this year, the only thing that came to mind was the 2014 Dodge Charger...

Granted, I couldn't get farther than about 5ft behind the back end, I thought it looked kind of large and square. The guy said it looks like the 8, but the 8's I drove were certainly a lot better looking. Maybe it will look better from a distance.

This will be my first post on Bimmerpost, after reading for many years.
I was invited to a pre-view event for the M3 2 weeks ago and I can confirm the car does look like your renders. The one thing that surprised me is that the grill wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. The part you are missing in your rendering is the fact that there is a place for a number plate, and that visually cuts the grill in half. The license plates here in Europe being wide (versus USA plates) so the place for the plate completely splits the grill in an upper and bottom part. And that split helps a lot. There were 8 people in the pre-view room with me and the overwhelming opinion was that it actually looked good. |
