don't mind EVO's verdict. GT3 RS was an abvious choice (on track....but on the road it's a different story). Don't agree with both the sterrato and the civic, as the first one has the common limits like its "dakar 911" sister, and the Honda is a FWD car that, in my opinion, cannot be considered due to its over-hard suspension setup. To me, the last ECOTY gives always biased verdicts of circumstance

Also the Elantra N is a *direct* competitor and the two times aren't that much different lol. You act like the Elantra N isn't a great choice either. Get over yourself. |

I'm a 911 guy through and through - still own one and have owned many along with some GT cars. The M3 xdrive and CS both are better cars these days IMO than anything that doesnt start with a GT, and more so when you consider the 911s are 1.5-2X the cost.

Agreed. Modern 911 (of non-GT variety) are not that exciting to drive.

the integra type s and civic type r punch far above their weight. (i think engineering explained said he liked the integra better than the g87 m2). you can throw all the power and grip at a heavy car, churn out great lap times, but at the end of the day it still feels heavy. My BRZ was more fun to drive than my 700hp 3800 pound awd GTR.
seems thats the way evo mag leans too (alpine a110 at the top, maserati and aston at the bottom)

CTR is just a performance to cost ratio powerhouse, diminishing values at a certain point so it seems appropriate for it to be on the list.
GT3 RS has been sweeping up the competition, its number 1 on every list I've seen so far.

honda? wow, good for them. Wonder how much they had to pay for that lol
serious note, I do seem to see that ride on a lot of list, it must be a solid car.

Less than a single percent separated number 7 from number 5. The T is a base spec 911 with a few weight saving measures and some dynamic improvements, so you’d hope the M3 CS ‘beat’ it. I’m keeping our M3 Comp touring and getting a T next year (because manual).

I like that the T lost because it embodies or signifies everything currently wrong with Porsche. 5 years ago a base manual 911 was $90k. Now it’s $130k plus plus. Not worth it to me. |

Taxes? Here our F80 comp manual (2018) was $80k and the G80 manual $95k 5 years later- although can be had for $85k without carbon pack and special paint options. Of course the estate is more expensive and unavailable here. My competition x drive was $87k for a more direct comparison in trim levels.

The GT3RS is a phenomenal car and should be winning , especially when it comes to driving dynamics, handling, tracl prowess etc. It is essentially a cup car for the road, and, in fact, has spring rates 40% stiffer than a GT3 Cup...that largely tells you all you need to know about how extreme they pushed it. Now, that being said, dealers who charge ADM are selling them 200-250K over, and as much as I would want one, for 500-600K, this is not a car I am buying.

Performance cars are extremely subjective , I've been fortunate enough to own some and currently the proud owner of a 991 GT3 , and before that a 981 GT4 amongst other Porsche's . Though I don't currently own a 3RS, I will soon, just waiting for the right spec 991 .1 GT3 RS to come available. I've had decent seat time on both street and track ( LRP, NYST and Monticello ) in a 3RS and if the current one is as good as the reviews say, then it probably has few to no peers , which has been the case for some time. There are plenty of faster, shoutier and more exotic looking cars out there, but they are substantially more money and perhaps only a handful like the Huracan STO, and Senna can slice n dice on a full trackday with a 992 GT3 RS without needing a major cool down period and/or tires swapped. My other fun car is my G80 M3 Comp, but as much as I adore it, it feels closer to a performance luxury car . The 3000lb GT3 steering, brakes, shrill at 9K rpms is a whole different kettle of fish. It never gets old. YMMV...

….but that also means they are also far more usable. I’m still shocked at the blend of performance and usability the G80 offers. |
