Anyone considering the Cybertruck?
For the first time, I'm seriously considering a pickup truck to replace my 7-seater SUV.
I've been in a predicament for a while trying to find a suitable replacement for my GL450, but I'm not too fond of the new GLS's styling and cautious about getting another new BMW. But before now, the only worthy replacement I like has been the X7. I even tried talking myself out of a 6/7 seater, which should open up many options, but there's no other sub-100k SUV out there that I was excited about until I saw the Cybertruck. The Cybertruck is having me rationalize how an electric 5-seater is adequate for my needs. Anyone else thinking about the Cybertruck? |

I thought about how ugly it was. I thought about how it’s great that battery tech is getting better. That’s all that I thought.

No interest. Have never owned a truck but have shopped for and will likely eventually buy a Raptor.

No I am vehemently against elon musk even if Tesla made good products (which they don't) it would be against my ethics and morals to support such an evil monster

However i'm very much against Elon. That being said i still like to think about things rationally. My friend got to drive one and i saw one at our local car meet so i can give you some thoughts Pros: Good towing capacity Lots of space tech filled decent space in the....space in the back..."trunk"? I dont know the official term Decent vision all around for driving EV so its quite economical Consistent in performance output (Hagerty did a great portion on this) 48v architecture Drive by Wire Steering Cons: Build quality is just as bad as your average Model 3. You'd think it wouldnt be but it is Opening the rear cover is not nearly as smooth or nice as i feel like it should be for a car at this price. It's the same issue i have with the powered trunk in the Model 3, it feels and sounds cheap. The car is a literal tank. If you hit ANYTHING with the car at anything over 30 MPH, get ready to pay for a lot of damages. There are quite a bit of sharp edges on the outside of the car and zero flex points. Honestly, you hit anyone going 30 mph you might actually kill them. For me this is a big issue. The "cheap" version wont be released till later. You're going to be paying for something that almost 100k with the build quality of something that is in their 30k vehicles which other cheaper car companies dont have in their 18k vehicles. While i wont try and prevent anyone from buying what they want. I personally will never own a Tesla. My friend bought a Model 3 and the amount of panel gaps and low quality feeling mechanisms immedietly made me feel like he wasted his money. I get it, the tech is cool and i feel like Tesla engineers are actually incredible, but the quality control is just not there for me. And i just dont like Elon, especially after working for him for 2 years. But thats me. |

No. Not even for a second.
Get the X7. It’s the best large vehicle on the market by a long shot. |

I'm not a fan of trucks in general. For a lot of reasons, including their visibility blocking nature, failure to physically fit in a lot of environments, I don't find them to be attractive vehicles (even when they aren't shaped like something a 7 year-old would draw), etc... None of which is relevant for folk who need a truck for work, of course.
Elon has taken Tesla off the table for me, along with the two test drives I've done of Model 3 Performances. I understand why folk are excited when they drive them, but I found the 3P to be an unbalanced mess of a car. I see the tech improvements they've done to the CT's drivetrain, and applaud the engineers for what they're trying to do. But the Cybertruck is very possibly the last vehicle currently in production that I'd be willing to buy. I'd rather drive a CVT CrossTrek. |

That being said i do think EVs are great rentals because if you return it with 80% or more charge, they wont charge you for charging (at least when i did it) and even if you have to charge a lot of hotels have charging stations and its not very expensive. |

No issues with EV’s here. My wife loves her ‘23 bolt but I would never buy a Tesla. Every Tesla I’ve seen has major fit and finish issues and the paint job is atrocious. My bother has a model 3 and he has had nothing but issues.

No way in hell. I've got a real truck....a long bed, crew cab 1 ton Chevy diesel.
If I was interested in advertising, it would be cool to buy one and wrap it because everyone is going to look at that truck from Mars. Just not for me.... |

Yeah I’ve thought about it. My other car is a Polestar 2 but I think I’m going to get an EX90 whenever it comes out.

Just read the multiple accounts of the Ford Lightning and towing. Wouldn't it be fun to only tow about 150 miles and then be dead? Sounds like a fun vacation. No electric anytime soon thank you.

Never, no. It's absolutely hideous IMO. The build quality also appears to be terrible.

And, I think most truck owners and fans would disagree that the "Cybertruck" is a truck. Get the Lightning if you want a fully electric truck.
