There's a positive note to the delays...

...getting a new car in nicer weather is more fun, and I won't have to shop for winter tires. Anybody else feels that way?

Yep - I agree. We have a three month long summer here in Maine (fantastic fall though...) and my cars due around end of June/July. Perfect.

Funny thing is I've had my winter tires and rims since December because I was told It would be here by then and also because winter tires were hard to get due to Covid supply chain, bla bla bla…oh well, at least I'm ready for next winter. Lol

I drive my cars hard all year and have never garaged them. Winter is too long for me to be without my toys for 4-5 months. To each their own.

The positive I take out of this experience is that I can get the winter tires I wanted. Like many of you I was expecting to have my M3 by now so I ordered winters. Luckily my tire guy let me refund the winters he tracked down - discontinued Michelin Pilot Alpin 4. Going with a discontinued set was not ideal since it would be impossible to replace.
So now I can shop for tires that will fit and have replacements available. Hopefully Michelin releases the Alpin 5 in same spec.

Since my build slipped 8 weeks, it looks like I'll most likely be getting mine in June/July (assuming no more delays), which in Houston is swamp-ass season. So I guess the silver lining is that the ventilated seats will come in handy

I know I'm in the wrong forum but I'm trying to stay positive like everyone else haha

I feel like the delay will get me an LCI before I even receive an allocation.

Nothing wrong with that - we're all in this together so let's try to celebrate the positives we can take out of this all!

Agreed. Winter is indeed too long to have a winter beater (or any other winter car for that matter).

My CA told me their next allocations were probably due for summer... hang in there! Are you on a waiting list?

The bmw stock winters don't fit the cars styling in my opinion and have yet to find a style someone put on their car for winters that I like.

Still not sure what I'll do…
A) get a separate set, prob something oem and put dedicated winters
B) swap out the stock tires for all seasons
C) just keep the car parked on days with bad weather

What about option D) Swap summer rubber with winter on the OEM wheels? That's what I plan on doing every season changeover.

Yep I'd go with C) or D). IMO swapping for all-seasons you will notice a difference in handling/fun factor all year round... not something I'd like to see in a sports car.

If you can afford to keep the car parked in bad weather (ie. work from home or have another car) then that'd be the cheapest option. Otherwise, winter tires.

Have a 2003 4matic c320 with 80k on the clock - worth more to keep as a beater/spare car than to trade in
