But now the big question: how's the exhaust note?
Don't know about in CA, but the UK configurator is already up for the regular and M240i XDrive model, it shows the option of tan/light brown leather - in the UK the M240i XDrive gets leather at no extra cost (including the brown option it seems), I believe its a cost option on the 220i (and 220d that we're getting here). No sign of a M240i RWD only option yet!

Regarding the exhaust note, you can hear it (the M240i) in some of the driving videos posted on BMWs YT channels. Sounds pretty decent, but then again it is a B58 so it should

Not that I'm particularly concerned about it, but does anyone know if they're planning a convertible on the G42-gen model?

That's what the B48 is for.

I would definitely choose a darker color. With bright colors like AW the rear lights appear to sit way too low. There is also no easy cosmetic fix for this imo.

It looks good from the side. Rear is an abomination. Front is busy, and inelegant. Purple color is great. Overall, another BMW where you have to talk yourself into thinking it looks good.

The character line beginning at the edge of the grill, traveling across the headlight assembly, and extending through the front fender all the way back to the taillight is really nice. It gives the car the visual weight of e87 generation but without the awkward proportions. The line makes the car feel longer while the shoulder gives it a nice visual weight.

This design clarity is a nice departure from the tortured profile of almost every other current generation model. It does not carry through the door handle, but considering the change in handle design, it probably makes sense to lift that character line up to the top of the (front) fender.

I understand that some do not like the front bumper cover or the taillights- but really? These are not hard points and will easily evolve.

Excited to see this in person. Seems like a great opportunity for BMW to do something extraordinary with the next M2.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

I thought the original taillights on the F22 were pretty ugly too but then the LCI fixed that so hopefully same will happen here.

It is not revolting at first sight as the m3, and looks better than the M2. You can imagine what M2 will look like, better.

Terrible car. BMW designs are fucking awful these days. People saying this car looks good are blind.

Keep drinking the kool-aid.

Best looking BMW since the 1M.

Things I don't like:
those silly tailpipes
overdone plastic trim

Otherwise finally a worthy successor to the E82 1-series design which was angular and full of sharp corners—-unlike the very soft F22 which was frankly terrible
