Are the covers standard on all cars or just those built with the M carbon ducts with no grille?

My 4 series has full open ducts from the factory. Its a fully exposed front opening on both sides of the intercooler. I never had any rock issues with street driving for all 80k miles.

U might be talking about different covers. These are inside the wheel well.
For sure standard on all M3/4
