Very loud coldstart

Hey! Just mounted the equal lenght midpipe for AA and the cold start even with valves closed is too much for my family, the rattle doesn’t help either! Would removing the cold start affect the car?

I dont think you can remove cols start without tuning. So for the time being, you can minimise the noise by shifting into gear immediately after starting engine, and let it roll slowly out of garage. I also put gear in reverse to go back and forth. After 20 second then the cold start is gone.

In other words, if you keep the car moving right after starting, then you can minimise the cold start noise 80%.

I just installed an AA single mid with SST valve controller.
I put the car in drive ready then hit B to force the valves closed. It sounds stock during warm up.

First thing I did after the DME unlock and tune was to turn off cold start.

What can module did you install? Cold start is for emissions, if you care about the environment then keep it turned on, turning it off won't destroy the downpipes.

removing the cold start wont hurt the car, as mentioned above, you can do so with a flash tune.

As said above removing cold start with a tune will fix your issue.

I start the car in the garage leaving it closed with my valve controller set to close. If you're still using the factory valve control they still open even in comfort mode.

The combination of both keep my neighbors happy.

The valves don't open in comfort mode with stock control.

+1
the cold start loud sound is produced by the car's software not the valves

Cold start is dumping extra fuel/air to rapid warm the catalytic converters to proper operating temp. ECM also ignores the o2 wideband for the short time - OpenLoop.
disabling hurt anything? no - just inefficient cats and shorter life.
I guess coming from a Jeep Grand Cherokee srt with a custom supercharged 448 cu inch straight pipe... I find cold start 'quiet'

^^^ That’s incorrect. The ColdStart routine doesn’t dump extra fuel… the system adds air via the exhaust ports/runners and secondary air pump so the primary CATs heat up faster. Cold start enrichment is outside of this and a normal process that’s done even if you turn off Cold Start. Your engine should still have a high initial idle during the cold start enrichment phase for a few seconds and then die back down to 700ish RPM, just the CATs won’t be as quick up to temp to help scrub exhaust gasses as quickly… it’s totally an environmental thing and nothing more. If anything, turning off Cold Start routine for some engines will actually solve issues like secondary air injection plugging up over time due to carbon deposits in the system, which is a byproduct of this routine. It doesn’t hurt the CATs at all.
