"Real" service on 18 mo. old <14k miles M4Cx
What does a standard, basic service entail and what does one typically cost? Oddly, my previous services were all "no-charge", so I am wondering what is going on now.
My dealership's webpage and the MyBMW app do not advise what is actually needed/suggested. They just provide a laundry list of every possible service. E.g., a 3-year oil pkg and a redundant oil change. Brake fluid, coolant, and especially spark plugs are not typically needed on cars of this age or miles. Is this a new type of services "marketing"? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Combined with EPA regulations forcing manufacturers to develop parts that have fluids and consumables last longer than they did 30+ years ago, a lot of newer-developed parts generally just do use longer-lasting consumables.
At 14k miles, all that should have been done was an oil change. Break-in service is done at 1200 miles, and oil change at 10k. Some have elected to do oil changes more often, but spark plugs aren't done until 30k, brake fluid flush isn't done until it's detected it needs to be changed Here's a link to the maintenance schedule https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...1&d=1683301814 Last edited by Berzerker; 01-24-2024 at 09:54 AM.. |

The 60k interval is the same as the 30k one: Oil/filter, spark plugs, keyfob batteries. Plus the cabin filter because it's a multiple of 20k. |

TY all, settled
Turned out the dealer's website and the MyBMW app are worthless regarding maintenance. Connected with newly assigned Service Advisor and he said ignore the website/app information. Took my car in this morning; was told 2-1/2 hours; was done in 1-1/2; and cost me $0.0 (nothing) and got free donuts and coffee.
