Wing mirror help

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone had any ideas on an issue I am having as the dealer can't diagnose it. (2021 M3)

Every few days when I unlock the car, only the passenger side wing mirror unfolds. The drivers side stays folded. However when I press the button on the door to fold them twice, once to fold the passenger wing mirror in, and then again to fold BOTH mirrors back out. The drivers side works. The issue then doesn't appear again for a few days - even when locking and unlocking the car everything works as it should.

Been to the dealer twice, who simply says the issue isn't happening when the car is with them and refuses to do anything further.

Anybody have this issue or know what the potential fix could be?

Sucks but you might have to video the unlock in hopes of catching the glitch in action, then show the dealer and ask if the mirror fold/unfold can be recalibrated.

I am severely reaching here, but do you have anything on that side of the car that’s super close to the parking sensors? I don’t think the car is smart enough for this, but it might be sensing something and not wanting to unfold the mirror and cause damage. Chances are good, the one that’s not unfolding is just intermittently failing, but it’s something to check. The dealer should have seen failure codes for it not unfolding if they scanned it. If there was a response failure that wasn’t linked to an expected function (ie not unfolding due to a valid reason), it should have set a non-critical code.

I do park close to a wall, but it's intermittent even when parked like that. The annoying thing is no failure codes are showing for it. So BMW won't do anything about it. They won't even investigate it. Both times it has been in, they use the button on the door to fold and unfold them and say "Look it's working" and send me off.

Looks like I am going to have to video the fault happening!

Does it only do it when you park in that spot or also when you park somewhere else in public? Try to ask yourself what’s the constant here that could be causing it? Location, temperature, time the car is off, time of day that this happens (if that’s consistent at all). If you find the constant, change that and see if it still happens.
