Mercedes Buckets are very comfortable to me. If I go M4 route then the Carbon buckets are a must have option.....

Agree, the seats in my A45 AMG were extremely comfy, not near as supportive as these new Gseries BMW carbon seats will be though. The AMG seats are more of a sport seat really, like the BMW M Fseries comp seats.

Hard seats mean that the car is true to the fatherland. I have a feeling that this car will be a great driver's car. I just want that grill to become a little more integrated and small, perhaps LCI will make it better!

I was able to sit in 2 cars today: a G80 with "normal" seats and a G82 with CF seats. It turns out that everything I knew was wrong. Before I got in I was sure that the CF seats were not an option for me. My wife has mobility issues due to a long-term problem. On our way to see the car, we joked that if she got into a bucket, we would need to have a sunroof so we could hoist her out. I have VERY long legs so that when I am in my F30, my legs need to sit awkwardly around the steering wheel making ingress and egress difficult now. I was sure I wouldn't be able to get in or out with the CF seats. My wife could get in and out more easily than on our current car as she could press down on the rigid side of the seat to get support. I simply moved the driver's seat all the way back and the seat fit perfectly. I seemed to have a lot more leg room. I guess that the thinner seat lets me move my butt back farther. I don't know how the car would be on a long trip, but both of us found the bucket-type seats to provide better support that the sport seats in the F30. BTW, neither of us is especially "wide".

Question for anyone who has sat in or driven both. How do the m3/m4 carbon bucket seats compare with the Recaro seats in ford products? I’m coming from a gt350 that is my daily driver. Never had issues with the seats and they show very limited wear after 3.5 years even on the thigh bolsters.

You won't have issues with the standard seats, you should try and sit in the buckets if you can though. They were far too much for me seeing as the car will be used mostly as a car.

I gave my local dealer a ring today and they said one M3 was in stock, but was already being sold as a customer car. I asked if they have any more coming in this week since I wanted to go down there. They weren't sure and asked for my number to follow up. I apologize in advance if anyone out there has the random number I gave to that salesperson.

I just sat in the bucket seats and they are very comfortable. They hold you in place well, give plenty of support and are perfect for me. Now, there's the rub. I am 5'7' and 160 lbs. I think a person over 200 lbs or someone very tall could have issues with placement in the bucket seats. For anyone thinking about ordering a new car I would definitely head down to your local dealer and find a new M3/ M4 to sit in.

I sat in them today and they are magnificent. They make the car and the interior. All my Porsches have bucket seats and I have no issues with those. I think the M4 carbon buckets are a tad narrower on the bottom and have slightly deeper seating position. I drove 8 hrs a day in CF buckets in Europe with my GT3. The CF seats are not for everyone though. Many People just don't fit in them and many people who fit don't find them comfortable. It's all personal choice. I would never ever buy a Porsche GT car without buckets. I think the M3/M4 is different though as it's more of a DD for people.

Just got to experience the buckets first hand. They are amazing and they really change the interior. So glad I optioned them.

I'm 6' 190-195lbs. I got to check them out yesterday. Some context of my personal preferences...
I've always enjoyed a high bolstered, adjustable backed seat. Adjustable and two piece are important. Not looking for a fixed bucket in a daily driver or street car. I loved the Recaros in my Evo X back in the day and have always been pretty disappointed with most seating options available in performance cars since, especially because the seats seem to be getting flatter and wider as the average American gets, well, wider. The Recaros in my friends GT350 I think are great, and cloth, which is amazing. I have a CS now and the seats are above average. The thing that has always lacked in most performance cars for me is the lack of the high bottom bolster. Even if the upper bolsters are pretty good, which is the case with my CS in my opinion, the thigh area is still very low. Fast forward to the new optional M3/4 seats. Finally, a well bolstered seat that has an adjustable back. I think both the upper and lower bolsters are just right and the seats have no issues with comfort in relation to cushioning. The upper bolster is adjustable which makes it more universally fitting for folks of different upper body sizes. The bottom bolsters are a perfect height and make getting in and out easy enough and better than you'll find from any fixed bucket. The only thing that was confusing to me was the little piece in the center of the bottom portion, between your legs. It seems like they tried to raise that portion a bit to make your legs fit into a "channel". I just didn't get it and found it to be unnecessary and intrusive. I'd probably get over it after a few drives but I wish it didn't exist. Other than that bottom portion, or if you're an above average sized person, I couldn't imagine not getting these seats. I wish more cars had a seat option like this for performance enthusiasts. These are much more supportive than any optional seat in the US, that I know of, from Mercedes, Audi, etc. It's a great balance in between the option seats on many performance cars and a Porsche fixed bucket. Hope this helps. |

I am 6.2ft (190cm) and 231lb (105kgs), those seats wouldn't be for me (Not so easy to get out of the car). But they are amazing !

Thanks for the feedback. What I have read and seen in videos is the CF piece on the "leg divider" comes off and allows you to hook in a 5 point harness. That's why it's there.

This "hump" in the crotch area is the main point of concern with people not settling in the car well.

I read the same thing but there wasn't any obvious way to remove it from the top so I felt around underneath the seat. I did feel a bolt there that could be attached to it. The issue is that the seat is raised and sculpted to it, so, even without the carbon piece, the uncomfortable contour remains.
