I had a May build slot, switched to doing an individual color which BMW has said that it will bump me to a July/August build and will be one of the first 2022 models in an individual color. 🤷🏻 Edit: Or were you meaning to say that you won't get your production number until July? As that would make sense.

Do you have an existing allocation or just an order entered pending allocation? Even July would be pretty optimistic with a custom color. I'm waiting on the production number too, and I'm looking at late July as well... without a custom color.

Either way though, as others have chimed in, I'd be highly skeptical of that date unless you have an actual production number provided to you and BMW Individual has approved the color choice. Otherwise at this point you don't have a formal order nor approval on the color and will likely be looking at much later than a July delivery date.

sorry obviously you guys know so much more than me. My dealer told me the color was approved, and that I guess he's just waiting for his allocation or something. I'm only giving you the info I was given.

Just trying to be helpful and set some realistic expectations. I'd love to be proven wrong and you get the car delivered at the end of July in an individual color.

Share your M3/M4 order details
I would suggest just trying to pin the dealer down a bit, e.g has the color actually been "accepted", or is it just on the list of "approved" individual colors etc. You can also try calling around to see if there is somewhere with an open allocation.
It looks as though you're ordering base, which definitely seems to be much harder to find (there seem to be a few comp allocations around), so I would maybe hedge a bit if I was you - there is a risk that they don't actually get a base allocation next round. Who knows though, total crapshoot, all you can do is try and get as much information as possible and look out for your own interests |

First dealer I went to tried that on me. My individual color was "approved" but he did not have an allocation or could not find any other dealer to give him one for something he had on the floor. I moved on the next day and went to dealer in neighboring state and got the color approved and a production number in the same day. That was on 3/11, but the its a wk 24 build because of the individual color. IMO, you don't owe dealer anything, I would start calling around.
